Have you checked your settings that no VPN is enabled?

It’s been a bug since 18.0 that when the VPN icon remains there even after you’ve turned on your VpN. I still face the issue on 18.0.1 even though I reported the issue to Apple already. The only “fix” is to restart your device but when you turn on and off VPN, the issue comes back.

It was a bug on ios 18. Mine got fixed on ios18.0.1

Same here. I have the SurfsharkVPN app installed but the VPN icon appears sometimes even when I’m not connected.

Does your carrier offer auto-connecting to hot spots? Do you have a work SSO on your phone? If you go to your phone’s VPN settings, is anything listed? If you go to General → VPN & Device Management, is there anything listed in that menu either profiles or VPN configs? If it’s none of those things, this is truly bizarre. Where do you live, OP?

If you see this icon, it meand that an app definitely added a vpn configuration like 1.1.1.1 Warp or Speedtest and such who are free to use

Ive had the ios 18 since the beta, this happens from time to time for some reason.they didnt adress it in the beta

It’s a bug, I have the same issue. Reboot fixed it

I see the vpn icon sometimes when i’m using adblocker apps on my phone. Have you installed any recently?

Are you using opera browser or browsers with vpn or apps that use vpn?

Reset the network settings

Turn off vpn and try restarting phone. Worked for me
