So I always see you on YouTube VPNs for Apple TV 4K and I know I think with the last update they allowed VPNs to be used on Apple TVs or to be used on the TV iOS.
Me and my family were always watch a movies and TV shows.
We have so many subscriptions to different apps Netflix, Paramount, Hulu, Peacock, Disney, etc.
Sometimes when searching for a movie it would say not available in your region on different apps.
So I wanted to see into the world of VPNs as my understanding I could have access to these movies as it shields my IP address.
Does anybody have any recommendations for like the best one not sure free or subscription ( hopefully not that costly)
Is this just for one specific device or it’s one login that I could use across various devices
Also with the VPN support like 4K HDR Dolby vision content or is it slowed speeds.
And as I’m writing this I guess would I be able to access MLB baseball games or football games that are region locked.
FYI… if using a VPN to access iTunes content from other regions, you need to create a separate AppleID for that region to prevent being locked out of your primary iTunes account.
Because of the issues Apple has had with people circumventing regional distribution rights only to claim Apple removed purchased content when that content disappeared from their accounts when switching regions back and forth, they have revised TOS to make it a violation to use a VPN with the iTunes Store altogether.
People have had purchases permanently removed without reimbursement and AppleIDs eventually suspended after continued violations of regional distribution rights. So be smart and don’t use your primary AppleID.
In regards to streaming services like Netflix… as soon as their system detects the use of a VPN, they will region lock the account to a specific region regardless of where the VPN is set to. Technically, it calls for a termination of the account… but Netflix isn’t going to willingly boot a paying customer hence the region lock vs account suspension.
I am not aware of any VPN issues with any of the other streaming services. No issues reported with accessing blacked out sports either.
Hope this helps.
This works for some streaming services but you often need another app as well, which requires another region’s Apple account. For example, HBO/Max
I’d say it will really depend on the platform you are trying to access. If the service really wants to prevent you accessing their content from other regions, they can still blacklist the IPs used by the most common commercial VPN providers.
For example, to watch some specific platform from my country outside it, I need to run my own VPN server as all the major VPN providers I’ve tried don’t allow me to do it.
Number of users will depend on the provider and plan you choose, similar to speeds. I use ProtonVPN and they allow 10 devices at a time for example (You can still run a VPN on a router level). I’ve never have a problem with speeds either.
Be careful.
Netflix will possibly think you’re sharing your account and want you to pay for a family plan.
NordVPN works very well for me, I travel a lot so I use it mostly to access my streaming services in my home country (Canada) when overseas (Disney+ which has a lot more content in Canada than the USA and Crave mostly) but i occasionally use it to access Netflix content that isn’t available in a given region. Never had an issues with any streaming service being problematic with it so far.
It’s nowhere near as difficult or risky as some people are making it out to be. I’ve been doing this for years now with zero issues. Prior to using a VPN there DNS providers who offered services to circumvent geo restrictions.
If the service you wish to use doesn’t have an app in your countries App Store you just need to create a second Apple ID for that country, takes about two minutes to do, and you can add that profile to your Apple TV and download the app you need. You can then switch back to your own profile and the apps from the other profile remain on the home screen.
Depending on how many apps you want to use from a different region, I would recommend SafeShell VPN as they have an app mode which allows you to set eight apps with their own region. For example I’m in Germany and I have apps set to US, UK, MENA and Switzerland and they all work flawlessly and I never have to switch country manually on the VPN. Also the developers have a very active telegram for customer support.
Long story short, zero hassle, zero risk.
Usually using some kind of device which works well with debrid services. Which for the vast majority of people work without needing a VPN.
It costs around £2.50 a month when you buy in bulk and it’s essentially unlimited and super fast.
The ‘content’ gets cached to their servers which are usually based in countries that are not compliant with copyright laws, they also keep no logs.
You then stream the content from those servers without having to use any kind of VPN.
I have yet to run into any issues myself or find a VPN that is fast and as cheap as this.
I believe Netflix has caught on with VPN. No longer the day I can watch movie from Hong Kong. Jet Li, Jackie Chan and those kung fu movie. It’s a bummer!
You gotta try TurisVPN before anything else! it is soooo affordable and yet gives you security with its IP-2HOP server features
Does anyone know if the last showgirl is avail on any of the sites yet?
There are probably more appropriate subs for “I want to learn how to steal content”, my dude
Thank you for this information. I wasn’t aware of this. Sounds like a lot of hoops and whistles to try and get additional content that these apps don’t carry here in the U.S.
Thank you for all this information. I appreciate it. After reading other comments. I think this may be too much of hassle with a lot risks. I have learned a lot today about VPN and getting access to additional content. I think I might just hold off.
This is true. Yeah wouldn’t want that. Netflix is already too high of a bill monthly. Lol
. I believe you are misinformed. I never said stealing. What you are referring to is pirating content illegally. Which is exactly what I am not doing.
I pay for all of my subscriptions as I mentioned on my posting.
However based on geographic location and region that my device is in some movies and shows are not available in the USA but rather are available in other countries such as South Korea, Europe, Japan on Netflix or other apps.
Not sure if your aware but access to the content is dependent on the region.
Is it considered stealing if I transported my Apple TV with me to another country and logged into my Netflix in another country and get access to the Netflix catalog on another country? So not sure what you were trying to get at.
All I am asking is for the best recommendation for vpn to use just like countless other people use VPNs and countless other people put up similar posts in this group.
It really is a bummer. But if you do get a VPN for some other more valuable reason it should work for Netflix and Disney, but Disney doesn’t have a lot of regional variation in their content
It really isn’t that difficult. People over complicate things.
Personally I use NordVPN (probably one of their more common ones) and never had an issue with most streaming services.
I’m located in Canada (so take it for what it’s worth) and use it all the time without issues. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu (which isn’t available in Canada), Bravo (which isn’t available in Canada at all), etc. We watched movies last week based on a VPN out of Norway, Japan and Brazil (On Netflix and Amazon Prime) and never had an issue at all. Allows us to stream digital content from all over the place.
I also use the VPN to purchase my subscriptions as well for a discount. As I mentioned, I’m in Canada, but I created my account through Brazil. So I pay in Brazil $ each month, but it’s about 40% cheaper then if paid in Canada. Same thing for YouTube premium. Pay through India it’s significantly cheaper. I do this for other things as well.
You would have to read the terms and conditions of each streaming service to see what they specifically consider allowable and not allowable. I expect most of them would think that faking your location is “not allowable” but that’s just a guess. Netflix ”sort of” allows it but with many caveats: https://help.netflix.com/en/node/114701
No, you’re misinformed. There are contractual reasons why certain content is available in one country and not another - paying for content in one country does not entitle you to all of it everywhere, no matter what the downvoting dumbfuck brigade thinks.
If you care at all about hardworking people getting paid for their labor, don’t steal shit. That’s as true for entertainment content as it is if you’d shoplifted or dined and dashed.
