How is Cloudflare WARP different from a VPN ? What guarantees do I get with WARP

Sorry if this question gets asked a lot. Is WARP just a VPN that relies on Wireguard and on the Cloudflare network ? Because my VPN provider also offers Wireguard connections.

When the Mac OSX client says “Connected. Your internet is private”, what guarantees do I get exactly ? For example, if somebody has access to my WiFi router, will they be able to see the websites I’ve been accessing via the WiFi router logs ? What about my ISP ? Can my ISP still see my traffic logs when I surf the internet with WARP on ??

Warp is a free VPN for people who don’t want their ISP to see what kind of traffic is going in and out. It doesn’t hide your IP from the sites that you’re visiting, they are forwarded. Warp’s primary goal is to make your internet connection more stable. Warp Plus adds smart routing by utilizing Cloudflare’s Argo service so your traffic always takes the fastest route.

it is private in term of connections between you and your ISP.
so no, your ISP and wifi network cannot see your network activities.

Warp passes your IP address to sites but encrypts so your isp/school can’t snoop on your traffic. Be careful if you’re doing something sensitive as your ip will be exposed. It’s perfect for day to day use (ex. Netflix doesn’t care about Warp) but not great if you need absolute privacy.

I dont know why people say it doesnt change your IP because it does. Connect with WARP and check any “whats my ip website” you will see that neither the ipv4 or ipv6 is the one from your ISP.

A huge plus is that you get ipv6 connectivity if you are ipv4 only.

  • VPN (Virtual Private Network): Like a super secure envelope. You write your message, put it inside the envelope, and seal it with a lock. No one can see what’s inside, not even the mail carrier (your internet service provider). The envelope is then addressed to your friend’s house (the website), but it has a fake return address (a different server). So your friend gets the message, but nobody knows it came from you.
  • Cloudflare WARP: Like wrapping your message in fancy paper. It hides the actual message a little, but anyone can still read the address on the package (your IP address). WARP does scramble the message (encrypts your data) while it’s traveling, but websites can still see your general location from your IP address.

In short:

  • VPN: More secure, hides your location completely.
  • WARP: Less secure, hides the contents of your message a bit, but your address is still visible.

TL;DR: Nobody’s hidden!

First of all, no enterprise wants your privacy. Because your data is the primal feed to all their systems. Small companies might not be interested in your data and that’s why they are funded by small amounts of $$$. So buy(or try) vpn from small startups and never trust “This connection is private” slogan. Since every business is a company(can be pushed to co-op or event change ownerships), you are never private and you will get caught eventually!
If you are doing crime I don’t care what you fall into but, if your job contains sensitive info (like being a journalist, free thinker, freedom fighter, …) you should use different random privacy techs(vpn, proxy, obfoscator, …) preferably, behind multiple routers.
Disabling ipv6 helps a lot since they are device specific(and easier to locate from all the world).
Paying for the vpn account could itself be another exposure(to the governments, mostly). So, crypto could help anonymity.
Routine, is another factor that can lock you up. Most criminals have routines like ordinary people. So you might get caught doing it in a long period after the connection is trusted. But, by the timestamps and repetition of the same criminal act, you might get exposed. Imagine what happens when they(government) put all the puzzle pieces from all their data collection units.

What if I only use cloudfare when I am playing games. And turn it off when I go inside a website?

Its a piece of shit, thats all you need to know about it

ismi nedir sağlayıcınınızın

I’ve been using it just because my work has a block on messenger and Snapchat. When I enable it I can use the work wifi to use those. It helps because my cell phone signal is lost when I’m inside the building. It works for that and it’s all I do with it. I’ll turn it off when I’m not using it

warp+ ip dynamicaly change except y hit the bug in y will get static ip in the sesion warp+ not hide your real ip when web your visit using cloudflare network

it’s not a VPN, a VPN masks you connection and IP address while with Cloudflare WARP (basically a DNS), websites can still see your IP address location

Cloud flare warp+ is great it help me with my Telco bug APN without warp+ I can’t play game only search website, YouTube and social media with warp I can play games without paying a single cent to my Telco…why I do that they deserve this…even if I pay for plan it will be shit in month 3 usually Telco in my country never improve their line it will be slow the longer u use it they never care bout their customer and they also steal customer Topup if u are prepaid n always overcharged a few cents if u r postpaid

If i download a torrent can my isp see that? Nothing too illegal, just tv shows or movies.

It doesn’t hide your IP from the sites that you’re visiting, they are forwarded.

This is not true anymore. If I connect to WARP, my IP is different. Websites that reveal your IP address show a Cloudflare IP

Warp Plus

how to get warp plus?

Thanks. What about Cloudflare, can they see my network activities (when i have WARP on) ? And why would anyone buy a VPN instead of just using Cloudflare WARP ?

but encrypts so your isp/school can’t snoop on your traffic

Covered by https protocol already.

so if you use

warp + another, regular VPN app

is this mean you are safer(since also your ip become hiden)?
