As the title suggest. Even though I am on the latest version of ExpressVPN, this notification still shows up on the app itself (running on windows 10). It doesnt affect the functionality, but it bothers be a bit.
Is there a way to fix this?

Same for me on Win 11. Started today. I updated to the newest version but UPDATE AVAILABLE still appears.
This is a bug on ExpressVPN’s side - it downloads the outdated version. As a workaround, you can download the newest version (marked as a beta) from here:
https://download.expressvpn.xyz/clients/windows/expressvpn\_windows\_12.67.0.6\_beta.exe
I’m really loosing faith in Express VPN as a product I want on my computers. I don’t believe in the quality or safety of their product. For me, it’s time to look elsewhere.
Mine said updated available, so I clicked the button, but when the installer ran I only got the option to Repair or Uninstall, it didn’t do the usual automatic update. So, I went directly to the website and downloaded the latest on the hunch maybe the client downloaded something wrong, but had the same result with that. So, I tried Repair, but it just showed the “update available” banner again after. So, I did an uninstall and reinstall, and after that it’s still showing the “update available” banner. It shows the correct 12.66.0 (24) version though.
Kind of a mess in other words. Everything still works though at least.
Apologies, everyone, this has now been fixed.
ExpressVPN is owned by a Chinese company. Trust at your own peril.

I have exactly the same issue on Windows 10 64 bit.
Suddenly I noticed the ExpressVPN popup said “A new version of ExpressVPN is available”, so I clicked Update Now, downloaded what I thought to be the latest version 12.66.0.24 and ran the installer. Although the installer appeared to go through its usual steps, at the end the ExpressVPN popup still said “A new version of ExpressVPN is available”
I checked my version and it is already 12.66.0.24
But I repeated the upgrade process anyway. Of course, the downloaded update was exactly the same, with a (1) appended. But I ran it anyway, thinking maybe there’s a glitch somewhere.
This time I got a popup saying Repair or Uninstall, so I ran Repair. Then it said Windows needs rebooting, so I rebooted.
PC reloaded, but Repair or Uninstall appeared again.
So I repeated Repair once more. By this time I suspected that the upgrade was screwed in some way.
Again, Reboot required.
At this point I abandoned the upgrade and contacted support.
Support responded earlier this morning with various suggestions, but the key line in their response is:
“As for the message ‘A new version of ExpressVPN is available’ if you are still receiving this when you are using the latest version of the app, we are aware of the issue and that it’s been raised to our Engineers.”
ExpressVPN seems to be functioning normally, however. I can Connect, no problem. So I suppose I’ll just have to live with the “A new version…” message until the company provides a newer update.
Ok cool I’m not the only one losing my mind lol
I’ve been having the issue since the 13th. Chatted with support several times. Today I asked about the beta and they said they didn’t know but were wondering if I would try it and see what happened. I told them that it fixed at least that issue.
I tired the beta it didn’t fix it ether I did a install/reinstall but I didn’t delete the original file folder yet I guess that the next thing I try
I’m both glad yet saddened to see others have the same issue. I’m glad because it’s not a user specific error. But saddened as others are dealing with the same.
Thankfully, it’s a very, very minor issue. I just couldn’t understand why, after updating, repairing, uninstalling, and reinstalling that, it was still saying to update.
Well hell, I thought I was going nuts. Thank goodness it wasn’t me. LOL
That’s the reason we shouldn’t just jump to update… now they have 12.68.0.4 and now the window defender said it doesn’t know the publisher. It is so annoying.
is it just me or is express vpn very slow. the hub im using is only a few hours away in atlanta
My paid Express VPN works fine.
I have just got off chat with EVPN about this. I had 12.65.x, the update is version number 12.66.0 (24) and this version number shows both in the installed app and in the installation file - not the previous version number.
The issue has been sent to the Dev team.
Same here. I’ve been using it for a while for work and personal use, but unfortunately I’ve encountered so many bugs and errors that I am starting to lose the sense of security and it being a quality product.
One would assume that by now ExpressVPN the company would have got into the habit of testing their upgrades first, before releasing them.
Mine still says there’s a newer version today lol maybe it’s not fixed
