So I haven’t been hit with any warnings from my ISP, (Yet). But Seeing more and more posts regarding it esp where I live I wanted to ask around before I invested in a good VPN.
I have been using some free VPN’s I found in the Firefox Extensions shop, which I usually use before faring any sites, but I don’t even know if those extensions do anything at all. I have the free version of Proton VPN but I don’t really know the difference between it and a in browser VPN?
Inquiring if I should just go along with the web-browser VPN or actually outright go with a subscription model for the Proton VPN?
I use the infamous Nord VPN for everyday browsing. I have tried some others but their speeds on Nordlynx are unbeatable.
Also they are fairly cheap and I have (so far) zero issues with them. No ISP notices or nord creating problems etc.
The only annoying thing is that they keep sending notifications in app for their other products sales and there seems to be no way to disable them.
Private Internet Access, it has lots of dials to turn, ability to have OVPN configs for devices like my router, quick speed over all 9/10 I don’t know what I would change about it.
Windscribe over here, too. I don’t know too much about all the dials and knobs it may have, nor do I really care. I was lucky enough to grab a lifetime deal when they were offered. It does what I need it to do, which is all that matters to me.
I just switched from PIA to Mullvad this past week. It was cheaper to do so since I tend to grab stuff in batches instead of daily.
The download speeds are much slower, even when connected to locations closer to me. What would have taken me less than 5 minutes on PIA, took about 30 with Mullvad.
I don’t see leaks yet. Time will tell, I may end up switching to Proton next month.
Mullvad is pretty solid from my personal experience and what I’ve heard from other people on these high seas. Paid but cheap, lots of places to choose from, not a subscription model so you pay only for exactly as much time as you need, has an app.
Mullvad. I used Surfshark before that. To disable autorenew you have to create a ticket. They still ended up autorenewing. It took 4 more emails to get a refund, each one of them pressuring you to stay.
Mullvad has been good in my 60 day trial run with it. I really like the wireguard configs for my iphone. Can customize it like crazy with different DNS hosts etc.
I tried to use a wireguard config on my PC but I couldn’t access my LAN when it was on. Tried to figure it out but couldn’t. Been using the app with split tunnelling and it works well, but I do notice it disconnects semi-frequently with the wireguard connections.
I like iVPN. It’s fast, has features, and costs almost nothing, and doesn’t lock you into subscriptions. I hate that most VPNs charge steep prices if you only want a monthly plan.
DO NOT trust proton under any circumstances. I know it’s a different service to Protonmail, but protonmail work with law enforcement, so I don’t trust them with a thing.
