What to do if you are suspended from PayPal because of VPN usage?

This question is for educational purposes only and to spread awareness of using a VPN responsibly. This question is also meant for people to give relieving answers to those who are really stressed out from having their accounts locked because of using this for the sake of their privacy. What are the guided steps you need to take action of in case you are suspended from PayPal for using a VPN?

I always use VPN and I never had any issues with PayPal.

If your PayPal account has been suspended due to VPN usage, it can be a stressful situation. Here are the steps you can follow to address the issue:

  1. Disable the VPN: Before proceeding with any other steps, ensure that your VPN is disabled. This helps avoid further complications as you interact with PayPal.

  2. Contact PayPal Support: Reach out to PayPal’s customer support. You can do this via their website, phone, or even through social media channels. Explain that your account was suspended and you suspect it might be due to VPN usage. Be honest about your VPN use, emphasizing that your intention was to protect your privacy and not to bypass any legal or security restrictions.

  3. Verification Process: PayPal may ask you to verify your identity to confirm that you’re the legitimate account holder. This process might involve submitting documentation such as your ID, proof of address, or other personal information.

  4. Follow PayPal’s Instructions: Carefully follow any instructions provided by PayPal. This may include steps to secure your account, such as changing your password or security questions.

  5. Review PayPal’s Policies: Take this opportunity to review PayPal’s policies on VPN usage and ensure that you comply with their terms and conditions to avoid future issues.

  6. Regularly Check Your Email: PayPal will communicate with you through email for any updates or further requirements to reinstate your account. Keep an eye on your email inbox (including spam/junk folders).

  7. Consider Alternative Solutions: If the issue persists and you’re unable to resolve it with PayPal, consider alternative payment services for your transactions, ensuring that they align with your privacy needs and their terms of service regarding VPN use.

Remember, the use of VPNs can sometimes trigger security alerts with financial institutions like PayPal because they might interpret it as suspicious activity. Always use VPNs responsibly and be aware of the terms of service of any platform you use while connected to a VPN. I personally never use Paypal whilst connected to a VPN.

Paypal doesn’t care about VPN

My husband had this issue, he emailed PayPal and they took care of it

I only surf with a VPN, never had any site ban me!!!

Now, why would you utilize a tool (vpn) to hide your identity, then proceed to a site which requires you to provide your identity.

Do you also visit facebook/ instagram/ etc.

That’s an oxymoron!!!

My account locked for similar reasons. I cleared my cache switched to my other paypal account and never had issues. 5 years latter I logged back into my locked account and the lock cleared. It was all just saber rattling I guess. When I stopped logging in, they stopped caring I guess.

Follow their terms and conditions and don’t get banned. Failing do to do can result in your account being permanently closed.

It’s that simple.

When it comes to terms of service these vary among the different PayPal entities/regions. Some PayPal entities don’t like when you’re out of your own country for too long. VPN can make it appear you’re somewhere other than your own country.

You can also use a dedicated IP address to avoid getting your PayPal account flagged when using it securely online, right?

VPN helps you to cover your communication from your isp first of all, and PayPal still knows who you are even before you enter the password. They just recognize the device

why would you utilize a tool (vpn) to hide your identity, then proceed to a site which requires you to provide your identity.

A VPN is meant to be used for security and privacy - not to hide your identity.

Right, but I am talking about the innocent people who used a VPN for the sake of their security and then they end up getting banned. Should they call PayPal or something?

Your isp doesn’t care what you do with the bandwidth you pay for.

By using a vpn/client you make an encrypted connection to the vpn/client network, all traffic between you and the vpn/client is encrypted so that no one knows what you’re doing between you and the vpn.

Once you connect to the vpn/client you continue to your website of preference.

Once connected to the vpn/client, any website that requires your credentials would only know who you are if you either provide them with such.

After credentials are provided the only way the website will recognize your Device is if you didn’t log out of said website, and or you are using a good vpn/client who doesn’t change the ip assigned to your original connection to their network.

I am talking about the innocent people who used a VPN for the sake of their security and then they end up getting banned.

PayPal don’t ban customers for using a VPN. Period.

I mean I doubt PayPal is going to ban people from paying with PP while connected to a VPN.

But yeah, I mean if you feel you’re banned in error definitely try and contact them and see what they say.

Im not sure why they’d even have this policy. VPNs aren’t evil or bad. They’re widely used every day. If you do get banned, it’s probably because you were doing something else that was against the ToS.

Your isp doesn’t care what you do with the bandwidth you pay for.

This is factually false.

And the only level of security you get while using a vpn/client is “nobody knowing, WHO (identity) OR WHAT (content) was requested while using said vpn/client.

No security other than hiding YOU!!!

Right. They only ban people who are using anonymized proxies, which in other words means using shared IP addresses from different VPN servers. Hopefully, a dedicated IP Address should avoid these problems, and here are the list of the best VPNs that use this out in the market.

Speaking of your answer. What are the odds of getting banned from PayPal using a dedicated IP address?
