Hi all
We run a legacy app that doesn’t perform well over vpn(suspect latency /smb issue). Recently the performance has degraded to the point of it being unusable, for no obvious reason. Spent a lot of time troubleshooting. Am looking at other options but have hit a brick wall.
We may have to go back to citrix for the app but this is costly, a backward step and still not amazing.
Any ideas!?
Depending on what hardware you have, apparently there is a known issue with M*90* boxes with the SSL VPN

depending on what you are using you could try the Mobile VPN with IKEv2, if not already using it.
You’re not hitting the VPN rated speed of the firewall are you?
With WG you can publish an HTML5 RDP session to a users desktop (or an RDS farm).
Works pretty well, might be a cost neutral way of getting around your issues.
Take a look at Apache Guacamole.
yeah SSL vpn watchguard for SMB share transfers or windows apps over a share are very fragile and extremely slow. We never got more than 25 mbits.
For SSL VPN, try setting the data channel to UDP if you havnt’ already.
Which vpn you using, mobile ssl or ike? SSL is the worst, bar none for speed, but great for convenience. If you haven’t already, try ike.
It’s a 500mb pipe at both ends and from testing is hitting 440 in each direction. It’s possible that that is having an impact.
Got a link to docs? This sounds like something that could help me with an unrelated issue.
I thought I looked through that previously but couldn’t find anything about publishing a RDS farm.
I’ll take another look.
Thank you!
