My privacy concerns right now mainly have to do with Discord. I don’t have much choice right now but to use this service, and want to keep a work account separate from my previous gaming account. Note that I do NOT need to use voice chat. Streaming would be nice but it’s unnecessary. What is the best way to keep these accounts separate so Discord can never associate the two? What are my options here? I see them currently as:
-
- Extreme and inconvenient: Two accounts on two separate computers, one running a on some virtual private network. Not sure if Discord can “see” through this
-
- Inconvenient: One computer, one browser for one account, and using Tor for the second account. This is not ideal because Tor is limited to things it can post on Discord. it’s also slow. But I can live with it (even though it’s annoying.)
-
- Slightly annoying: One computer, different browsers for the two Discord accounts, and the second account running on a virtual private network. Not sure if this even works. Will this actually obscure the fingerprint for my machine though.
-
- ??? Not sure what my other options are.
Again, the goal is to obscure from Discord that these are the same accounts. I doubt Discord cares all that much (right now), but I don’t trust them to keep their store of info safe from other people either either now or into the future.
