Title kind of speaks for itself. My work laptop only works on their VPN, can’t install shit, and I have my reasons for wanting them to believe I’m connecting from an area of the country I’m not actually in. Anyone have any suggestions? Is there a VPN service out there that you can install on your home router so all network traffic from your house is routed through it? Thank in advance, fake overemployed people of the world.
/r/digitalnomad wiki has a guide on how to do this
I don’t know why you’d use a cell phone hotspot and VPN when you are at home. Someone else suggested that. It will just become a nuisance. And you will require unlimited data to do that.
Install a VPN on your router and route your work computer traffic through it by MAC address. Or if you aren’t that fancy you can route all traffic through it, but I’m pretty sure the MAC address route is doable. Source: trust me bro.
I don’t mean to be that guy but this question has been asked before on this very sub. Even without it, I wanted to do the very same thing and found the answer on google easily.
Either way, r/digitalnomad is what you’re looking for. Go to their wiki and see their VPN guide. There’s multiple ways to do it but my preferred way is to host wiregaurd and use a gli.net router.
This company sells routers that support easy vpn setups if you don’t want to mess with firmware flashing. https://www.flashrouters.com/
Vpn servers not good. Their sw will detect you going thru it. Better to set up a vpn tunnel with 2 routesrs
Google gli.net VPN router
Yes lookup sonicwall vpn routers. They are priced for retail. What you’re try to do is complicated though and doesn’t sound like you understand networking. Basically you need to carry around one router and leave another at home. Build an IPsec tunnel and route all traffic over the tunnel.
Be sure to double check that your router can run your choice vpn service. Example I had to drop NordVPN and go with PureVPN to have my router run a VPN
You can use a little gli net mango router and connect to a VPN through it
But VPNs are detectable and it may not work. Companies offering residential proxies from my experience are also detected
The only safe solution is to setup your own VPN on a tiny raspberry pi or something in an actual house where you want to pretend to be (your parents house or something)
Get a cloud server in your area, install OpenVPN service on it, get a router that run openwrt.
Ipkg install OpenVPN client
That’s it
What i would do is get one of those VPN apps on your cell phone. Choose your location within the VPN app on your phone.
Then enable your cell phone hot spot.
Connect your laptop to your cell phone hot spot.
just dont use your company laptop when using a different VPN its safer and complies with your company policy… i wonder why people keep trying to break rules, this type of questions are how criminal mind works *looking for hole/bypass in the system and should not be entertained.

Be careful. A coworker had a VPN on his home router and got his work account locked down because left it on while connecting the VPN. Probably depends on the company security level.
Aren’t you technically violating your employment agreement or some company policy that you voluntarily submitted to as a condition of employment? If you’re asking how to use technology to mask your disobedience please know that some other technology will unmask your disobedience, in the long term.
Lol have fun committing tax fraud
Buy from Flash Routers. I flashed my own, its a pain in the arse and easy to brick.
Get a VPS and tunnel from your router to it so you don’t appear to be using a VPN.
I could do it with a Raspberry Pi, Linux and a lot of time and frustration. But my way is not something someone who can’t use a Linux terminal nor read a man page can realistically do.
