VPN not connecting on auto

I’ve just bought my first VPN so I’m not up to scratch with all the jargen that comes along with it (UDP, TCP, P2P, Onion over VPN etc…)

What I’m finding frustrating is when on the home page of the android app, it just says Connecting… Finding the best server. It doesn’t ever connect. I’ve went into VPN Protocols and it only seems to connect when I select OpenVPN (UDP). I get nothing when I select the recommended automatic.

Any help is much appreciated.

Not every VPN supports every protocol (but most do).

Most likely your VPN provider is pinging all their endpoints to find the “best”. Perhaps you have wait for them to finish all endpoints? I dunno. You should be able to manually select another endpoint instead of AUTO.

Be sure to test for DNS leaks once you have a connection established. Google “dns leak test” there are lots of sites for the test.
