Is it possible to use screen mirroring with a device that is using a VPN? It’s inconvenient to use a cable all the time and I wanna just watch it on a bigger screen.
You.need a VPN to exclude LAN (local) traffic. Or even a Split tunnel VPN (which forces a/certain apps to use the VPN, and the rest of the apps/traffic not too).
What are you using the vpn for?
I use a travel router to do my VPN. All my local systems, including a tablet I use as a second screen, connect to the router, and are on their own private network. They all access the internet through my VPN.
What mirroring software do you use? Miracast for example needs access to lan for discovery, but then setups a direct connection
Yes, it’s possible to use screen mirroring while connected to a VPN, but it depends on the VPN and your device. Some VPNs may cause a slight delay or issue with the connection, but generally, you should be able to mirror your screen wirelessly. Just make sure both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, and if there are issues, try adjusting your VPN settings or temporarily disconnecting it while mirroring.
I’m using a VPN to switch region to a Chinese speaking region cuz we’re a mixed Chinese-European household and I wanna be able to watch the shows I would be able to from Hong Kong.
I’m limited to Apple’s mirroring and I have an LG TV running WebOS.
You might need to start airplay before connecting the VPN.
