I use a VPN and have it connected through a google chrome extentsion. My question is, if im using safari on one monitor, and chrome on another monitor with the vpn activated, does it change my IP for safari as well? Or is it just changing it for chrome browsing?
If you are using it via a Chrome extension, most likely Safari will show your original IP. You can get a desktop app to change your IP no matter the browser. If you need a VPN only for Chrome you can continue using your extension or set up split tunneling from a desktop app, so you can have the VPN working only for specific apps/browsers.
But as u/sys370model195 said, first do a quick IP check. Also, make sure the IP it shows is in the country you are connected to. Sometimes Chrome VPN extensions can mess this up (even if they are turned off).
no, extensions are only changing in-browser IP address only
Smart thanks will do
