My school has blocked all the pirating websites I use to watch TV during my study hall after I finish all my homework, I believe the only way I can get vpns without wiping everything on the chromebook is through the chrome web store but they blocked a lot of those, will I have to live without watching TV and using blocked sites or is there a vpn that I can use to get around this?
fyi I use a browser called Warzone Tower Defense it’s a browser you download through the chrome web store the school can’t see what i’m doing while using it through go guardian
You could try the proxy sites listed here https://www.reddit.com/r/FREEMEDIAHECKYEAH/wiki/storage/#wiki_proxy_lists
You could also remote into another machine at home. Maybe Chrome Remote Desktop.
Did the school supply the chromebook? If they did, they probably used google’s enterprise enrolment. Wiping won’t do anything except lock it up until your school IT person enters the credentials to re-enrol it.
There’s a rule that’s generally true with schools: They always have some way to log all internet use, because it’s part of their child protection requirements that they must have a way to investigate any incidents. But they never have the time for the IT staff to actually look at any of those logs. So they won’t actually see what you are doing unless you give them reason to look. Or if the IT tech is having a bad day and wants to make some of the inmates miserable too.
Join the titanium network discord. I won’t link, but you can find it on github. They are built for people like you, with proxy sites, vpns, and straight up exploits to unlock chromebooks.
have they blocked dev options linux? ssh? you can find both in the ‘terminal’ application. use that if you can.
Check out ultrasurf, I think you can get it as a chrome extension, maaaaybe.
(edit: yeah definitely a chrome extension for it. no idea if you checked that one out.)
I used the exe version back when I was still in hs.
I just tried to use a proxy website, they blocked them too
