Tethering and a vpn

Hi all I’m really hoping someone can help me.

I have a smart 4g hub from ee as it uses mobile networks to connect me to the Internet it’s awful for gaming and sets my nat type to 3 leaving me unable to play certain games mainly elden ring.

Port forwarding and dmz apparently don’t work and according to ee will never work because of how the hub is built and how psn uses a mobile connection.

My question is can I use a VPN on my fone tether it to my PS5 and get a nat type 2. … if so which one.

The hub already costs me a stupid amount of money per month because the walls can’t be drilled into here I’d like to be actually able to game tho.

Honestly, mobile connections are just not great for gaming in general. Even with a VPN, your ping might still be high, and you could experience lag. Is there no way you can get a wired connection?

Not on Android anyway unless it’s rooted and you use a VPN app that supports rooted devices. The closest on non-rooted Android devices would be to run a proxy app in addition to the VPN app. The proxy app will be able to use the VPN and provide proxy service to other devices in the local network, but obviously it will only work if the other device(s) can be configured to use a proxy.

No because the wall can’t be drilled into (supported living) my only option was to get mobile broadband. I don’t play mp games at all really and they games I do play don’t suffer from an lag issues as they aren’t shooters or anything.

I didn’t think I’d run into any issues with elden ring but I’m kinda stuck in limbo with it and have no idea how to fix the problem a VPN was my last option.

Damn that’s super disappointing but thank you for the straightforward answer. I guess I shall just wait until I move to be able to properly co-op. Again thank you.

Do you know anyone with a power line adapter you could nick for a bit to try? Might save you the ongoing cost of a VPN if so.

Sadly not I don’t live on a very… Friendly street. It’s a very minor issue in reality and I’m sure I can just deal with it for a few months till I move
