Has anyone tried to share stuff using a VPN and syncthing? does it expose your IP or is it still hidden?

How is one supposed to get to your share if they don’t have your address?
Depends on your routing setup and OS. If you set up full routing on a Linux box (0.0.0.0/0) through the VPN tunnel then syncthing traffic will go through it. Two ST instances will find each other using ST relay servers and it will be much slower.
If you set up split routing (eg. Exempt the local lan) then traffic between devices on your local network will connect directly outside the VPN.
ever use syncthing? ever instance gets a unique code that you share. I was bored one day and thinking about this.
Actually no I haven’t. But even if they obfuscate it with unique codes, somebody has to know the IP address for any communication to take place. That’s just how the internet works. It’s called TCP/IP for a reason …
