Hey! I’m having a really hard time finding a VPN provider that supports manual configuration of an iKev2 tunnel. I’ve tried, NordVPN, StrongVPN, MullvadVPN, Perfect Privacy VPN, ProtonVPN… they all support OpenVPN manual config but thats not going to work.
Does anyone know of one?
i could be wrong, but I believe a lot of VPN providers deprecated IPSec VPN tunnels, inturn using OpenVPN and Wireguard.
If you do find one that does support an IPSec VPN tunnel let me know. TIA!
What are you trying to do? This would help suggesting a solution?
I don’t think you are going to be able to accomplish this with an existing provider. I would recommending using a cheap vps. Link below. You would build out the tunnel between firewall and vps and route all traffic that way. This would give you complete control over the end point and since you are just passing traffic iot through it, your cost per year would be about the same as a month of nord. I always have a couple of these for testing/experimenting purposes. You can have one anywhere in the world. They are easy to stand up and tear down. https://lowendbox.com/
Hi. Im trying to redirect traffic from one of my interfaces through a vpn connection. I am not able to install a VPN client on the devices.
thanks for the heads up. I’ll check that out!
Can you describe this in a different way? provide more details.
I dont think a site to site would work for my purposes. I believe thats mainly for network access and not so much like a tunnel for your traffic
Sure. I have 8 vLans and I want to direct traffic from 10.0.80.0/24 which is connected to my Sonicwall X5 Interface. My plan was to establish a VPN tunnel using Ikev2/IPsec and route my traffic through that tunnel. The devices on that vLan mostly consist of IOT devices, but there are a few that require a vpn connection.
and what is the endpoint of this tunnel that you want to build?
Generally speaking, nordvpn, etc. are not the solution for this.
You probably want/need a AWS/Azure solution.
but there are a few that require a vpn connection
I don’t follow. Why would something “require” a vpn connection? Does your ISP block your access to where it needs to go?
Yes, im having problems with my ISP
