A new porn ID laws are going into effect Nov 1st in Oklahoma, along with 239 other new laws. With this, Oklahoma’s joining the growing list of states making it harder to access adult sites by enforcing age verification. Rather than dealing with ID checks, Pornhub is just blocking access entirely from today already.
Sure, not everyone’s focused on porn access, but it’s about the principle here – another example of government overreach. People in many other states already went through this before and turned to VPNs as a workaround, connecting to servers in states without these restrictions.
If you’re in Oklahoma and looking to get around the block, a VPN is the easiest option. Connect to a server in a state that’s not enforcing these laws. NordVPN is a common choice people mentioned.
Plus, the code “vip” is still giving discounts, checked that today, but Surfshark seems to be working rn too.
Anyone already trying this out?
Boy oh boy I just love the “party of small government” ramming as much government as they can up my ass, and then telling me I’m out of line for taking it up the ass.
Good times, Oklahoma.
While I’m not needing to use my VPN for this reason, I still think this is completely wrong. If you look at how the sites would have to verify your info, you literally have to send your ACTUAL driver’s licence. And the site isn’t the one that verifies it. They have to send it to a third party vendor who can sell all your information (seriously, go read some of those terms). It’s asinine.
Lobby your reps to get rid of this law, or kick them out. There are no alternatives.
The funniest part about it is that there’s hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of other sites (including this one) that you can go on right now just fine. You don’t even need a VPN (You should get one anyways because they’re great but still)
So I absolutely love our tax dollars being used to virtue signal and not only that it literally being completely ineffective in every single way possible.
But hey 80-year-old losers who can’t keep their ID with them don’t have to show it when they go out to the bar anymore so woo! we win.
Government over reach indeed. If parents are worried about kids having access to adult sites, then maybe they should be, I don’t know…. Parents? Letting the government solve your shitty parental skills is a disgusting compromise.
I thought the Republican Party was the party of less government involvement. /s

Opera mobile browser has VPN built in for free.
Brought to you by “The party for LESS government”
I am a conservative and I am against this. They did the same shit here in Texas. I’m a responsible father and my daughter’s iPhone has parental settings which are locked, and at home she is on the guest network which filters this stuff as well. The government shouldn’t be doing this. It should the parents watching what your kids are up to.
There is porn on Reddit…. Definitely not on a VPN… edit: I think the law is really lame. There a thousands of adult sites…
I hear Ryan Walters has started his own VPN server company.
Now if only we could use a VPN to get around the abortion restrictions.
Is this going to affect us watching the Thunder violate opponents all year? That’s porn right?
Remember when people would go to Texas because porn was legal there and is why the porn shops are on the border? We haven’t changed much.
Can’t have no learnin’ about sex in OK, regardless of whether it’s good learnin’ or bad. Gotta keep that pregnancy rate up.
Making a private company keep millions of drivers licenses stored digitally is a security nightmare. You become a huge target for unsavory people.
Also all of the porn posted to Pornhub is by verified users. Verified users are people have made agreements and given permission for their body and content to be shown on Pornhub. Other sites, sites that you can still access her in Oklahoma, don’t have that protection in place. Could be revenge porn. Could be some sex worker who is being filmed against their will. There’s no mechanism in place for this protection.
Mullvad VPN. Pay by the month, they don’t even make you make an account

This usage of using a VPN to get around blocks has been a thing for a long time. Back in elementary school and jr high we were doing exactly this so we could play browser games on the school computers. You don’t even need a paid one, there’s plenty of free ones that will work just fine for this.
That or just use the Tor browser for your porn. It already encrypts your traffic through 3 different proxies so you wouldn’t even need a VPN at that point.
Vote NO on both state questions on your ballot. One wastes tax dollars and the other one only benefits wealthy people! Reign these Reeps in! Sq 833 & 834
Also remember before you vote that Project 2025 seeks to ban porn altogether.
