I’m currently traveling in Korea and wanted to log into my account (or create a new account) with my USA phone number (my primary number). I also don’t have a korea number, so USA is my only option.
When I tried to log in or sign up, no codes or phone calls were being sent. However, once I got on VPN and had a USA IP, then SMS or phone call verification both worked.
It seems like Line does not allow you to log in with a phone number that doesn’t match your IP address location. So if you’re having issues, use a VPN to your home country.
I wasted 2 hours on this, tried with friends phone numbers too. Hopefully this can help someone else!
I tried using US location in vpn but still couldn’t receive verification sms or call, and now the app locked me out for 24 hours for trying too many times
Bad product. I contacted their support and they didn’t even give this solution. Thanks. My phone was reset and I can’t login anymore. They don’t mention it in their documents. They say something vague like this:

Dang. I got my hopes up, but it didnt work for me This also sucks because my contacts on LINE are ONLY on LINE. I don’t even know their phone numbers to contact them another way and explain why I am not responding…
thanks a lot, it help me fix the issue. But for my case I have two phone, one is my Line phone number another is Line app installed, both phone are request to VPN connected to my home country for the Line login
