Completely shady company. They offer a “free” trial period that costs .99. Not a huge deal but still deceptive. Then they automatically roll that into a year long subscription and if you try to cancel they tell you you can’t have a refund because the .99 “free” trial is a “special account” and special accounts don’t qualify for refunds. They advertise a 30 day money back guarantee but refuse to honor it. If they’re that shady about their billing practices who knows what kind of spyware they’re installing.
GadiTek in Pakistan owns PureVpn, Unblock and Ivacy VPN. So the servers are mainly shared across all three service’s users.
they also do all kinds of other shady stuff.
when i used them i found out rather fast they throttle connection speeds to 100mbit often but as soon as you visit the most known speedtest websites it unthrottles.
also there are rumours that Ivacy is just using pure VPN servers resold.
Wait, did you actually try to get your $1 back?
I am using Ivacy VPN too.
My also concern about them is that some of their countries’ VPN servers are not physical.
I believe Ivacy has never been challenged in real life or even third party audited for security/privacy, and Tech Radar mentioned that you have to believe their promises in privacy since they don’t have anything to back them up with, so that’s a big no for me. Also, a lot of people report faulty kill switch with Ivacy.
Tbh I can’t remember ever seeing them in top ratings of VPN providers, they’re kinda along the lists of third echelon VPNs. By all these reasons I’d avoid them.
I have used Ivacy for years and they are great. I have had to use OpenVPN client and other protocols to get it to work properly, but I figure it is part of the deal when you get a discounted VPN. It is well worth the money to have access to streaming sites that I could not get access to otherwise. Right now I am using OpenVPN files from Ivacy because their app has a problem on Windows for some reason. They will fix it.
I have several VPNs that I use and I have 5 of them with lifetime subscriptions and none of them have any of my financial information. I used redemption codes to activate the VPNs. I got my Ivacy lifetime sub for 29.99 on a tech website discount. I have had it for 4 years now and have definitely gotten my dollars back and then some.
I paid $30 in 2019 for Lifetime through Mashable. No security issues here and I do everything as well as torrent on it often.
It’s even more of a scam now - they converted to PureVPN, none of the links work, can’t get support and the product no longer works even though I paid for 2 years. No support contact info for PureVPN. STAY CLEAR of PureVPN and IVACY VPN. They are a SCAM/SHILL company!
I’ve used Ivacy for years - I think I paid $40+/- a few years ago for a “lifetime” account - whatever that means. I have had a few hiccups over the years of disconnects, or other temporary issues - but I would say, long term, 95% + percent of the time I use the service it works fine.
I have not had throttle issues and regularly get 500-1000mbps depending on who / how many connections etc.
Not saying others have not had bad experiences, just one persons experience.
Chargeback through your financial institution
No I tried to get the yearly subscription fee back that they charged.
How do you use the open vpn I don’t see an option
This- I have been looking for something similar to my situation to make sure it wasn’t just my WiFi or something. I have a subscription until 2027, so it’s irritating me to not be able to use it while I spent around 50/60$ for it.
Same. I got a killer deal through Mashable for $30 a bunch of years ago. They offer a Firewall package now too.
I’ve used them for 7 years now. As you said, a few hiccups here and there. Lately, it’s been NAT issues for the Belgian servers under the “Secure Download” connections. My IP’s used to report back to me as 35.xxx.xxx.xxx and now it’s 10.xxx.xxx.xxx (internal IP address like 192.xxx.xxx.xxx). Makes my using remote desktop connection impossible. So, I’ve switched over to using the Netherland’s server, but find it’s not as fast as the Belgian servers.
Trying to explain to their customer service that the NAT tables aren’t reporting the external IP’s is like talking to a brick wall. Unfortunately.
Which country and protocol give you those speeds? I get less than 200 up/down on openvpn UK/US/ES servers
I use Netherlands for P2P. Never any issues. Otherwise i use more local NY or NJ servers.
I’m in US, using Sweden, Norway, Belgium etc.
Thanks, will try those just to see. I mainly need US & UK for streaming. Just got a $20 lifetime deal, but not really impressed so far.
