There are a lot of opinions and bias in places like this. Wondering if I could get something more informative and help me understand why I might want to not trust a particular service.
Kape Technologies (formerly Crossrider) acquired CyberGhost in 2017 and PIA in 2019.
A quick look into Kape Technologies or Crossrider brings this article up. Essentially Crossrider provided an SDK that people took advantage off and injected malware etc. You make your own descisions.
Personally, I used PIA and moved across to Mullvad back in 2019.
They all say ‘no records kept’. Have a search and see if they’ve handed them over to the authorities at some point. In some countries this can be a matter of life and death.
I use surfshark, its easy, I remember that Kape Technologies bought CyberGhost and several VPN review sites, putting theirs at the top.

I am on PiA. I haven’t done an research since choosing then 4 years ago.
Never had any situation where they haven’t worked
Phone app and PC. I used their OpenVPN connection vis my Pfsense router too.
Negative is they assign you a meaningless string of characters as user name and password, I have found no way to change it.
No doubt great for security. Impossible to remember. So I need to go find that email from 4 years ago every time I get a new device.

Bitwarden to keep all that info stored away and safe. I haven’t had to remember more than 2-3 passwords for so long, same with usernames.
