Is AdBlock Luna safe?
No it is not. Handing over your data to them and taking their words on what they would keep is like letting someone to place a cctv in your room and trusting them that they only look at the footage of when you’re watering your plants.
I believe it is, I’ve been using it for about 3-4 years and it’s been working great for me. Besides my opinion and experience they claim on their website to only track “your IP address;
the Generic ID;
your device type;
your browser version;
the name of requesting app;
the requested ad;
the ad content;
your country;
your birth year; and
your gender (the “Collected Data”).”
they have more information here Sensor Tower | Ads and VPN Privacy Policy
Probably not but you have the choice to give them the benefit of the doubt. They were originally in the Apple App Store but got removed and sued or something which is why they’re only available through profile installment. I’ve been using Adblock Luna since 2019 and had no issues, was actually pissed off they got removed from the Appstore.
Here’s how I like to think of it: there’s no adblocker as good as Adblock Luna without at least compromising a bit of your safety.
What harm would there be in letting them know what websites you’re visiting? I primarily use it to block YouTube ads anyway.
As a general rule, if something requires a phone passcode to continue, LOOK INTO IT DEEPLY FIRST. DO NOT ENTER YOUR PHONE PASSCODE AND ENABLE SOMETHING. I am speaking from my own dumb self, hopefully I spare you.
How to delete Luna when I don’t see it on my iPhone.
Can Luna see what i watch and access in social media including WhatsApp? I accidentally enabled it for a work and couldn’t turn it off before i access WhatsApp.
I am having problems with it right now. It doesn’t block ads since like a month. Anyone got the same issue?
they track what websites and what data you send them that includes any banking websites btws
True! It’s as safe as using Facebook, Instagram, or anything Google related that you have to log into. They all do the same thing! It’s all related.
You could go for a safer option - a great replacement is next dns. It does not work as a configuration, so you are not giving them access on an operating system level, unlike Luna. This works through DNS, you can think of it as how the “phone book of the internet” according to cloudfare, a dns resolver. It translates domain names to IP adresses that can be used to locate the domain on the internet. DNS services like Next dns work by blocking queries for tracking and ads.
(I love this app, it is awesome)
It’s free, however they do have a premium version which basically acts as a donation-subscription. It provides little features and supports the developers. Think of it similar to joining a YouTuber, little perks but you support the creator.
they install a root certificate so they can see all your traffic - even https encrypted
Not sure if you got it resolved but, if you’re using it on your phone, I’d say check your “certificate trust settings” and make sure that it’s still enabled. Should work then
So? I have nothing to hide from them. I don’t care that they can see what I read/post on Reddit etc. It’s a small price to pay for no adverts.
Yes, you have. One of them is your Bank Passwords and keys and any other passwords or keys to access and do transactions in any government or official site amongst many other pieces of sensitive information such as your social security number, credit card numbers, expiration dates and csv.
mate, that’s not how privacy works…
they mean bank information and etc
I have two VPN profiles- Luna Adblock and one regular security VPN. I switch to Luna AB to watch YouTube and the rest of the time I use the secured VPN. I’m a retired Paramedic- not a computer geek, and all I can say is I haven’t had any issues in three years.
