My schools wifi network is relatively censored and a lot of social networking sites are blocked. I how do I make my own vpn or use another server to put on my phone? I don’t know much about vpns. Most popular vpns are blocked
Try using Tailscale and using your own devices at home as an exit node
It depends. Are you trying to access blocked content on a school computer / device? Or does the school allow open access to the network (do you have the wifi password). If you’re trying to access blocked content on a school computer, is it running windows or macos?
If you can get 5G access where you’re at try disabling WiFi, and use your data plan.
use interstellar/rammerhead/holyub/sodium/moonlight
If I was the network-admin in your school I would be making it very hard to pass any VPN-protocol through, especially on “Students” networks.
That said, they probably have the equipment in place that recognizes most vpn/evasive protocols.
Tailscale = wireguard and that is very easy to detect & block (given the appropriate firewall)
So I guess you’ll have to experiment until you find some tunneling tool that can pierce through…but remember IT is watching…and adapting if they are any good
Try to use Outline.
It’s super simple to set up, but for you own VPN you still need your own server, for example Amazon free tir is enough
Set up a pi4 at home with OpenVPN on port 80.
They can not block 80 because it is the common web port.
So from your school 80 you connect to your home vpn 80 and from there to the world
(You may check if school also allows 8080, if yes set 8080 instead of 80 at home pi.)
The school has a username/password login to their network on my phone. I’m only trying to access blocked websites on my phone
