I don't want Malwarebytes' VPN service or promotions

I’m a huge fan of Malware bytes and have used it across multiple platform both, desktop and mobile.
I also handle my VPN needs already by other means.

When I open Malwarebytes, the amount of push to use their VPN is obnoxious. When I look at the landing screen (a service I pay money for), one of the first things I see is basically saying my VPN is off with a CTA to buy it. On desktop when I go to settings, I am first taken to a screen that solely tries to sell me VPN.

I understand and actually don’t mind a company I like and trust asking occasionally if I want to buy their other products in the app or emails, whatever. Not having a way to say “no thank you”, please hide your VPN offer is annoying. In my perspective it has me trust them less because I feel the hustle every time I open it.

Thank you for offering a sometimes valuable service that I may not have. Please stop.

I know, it’s gotten out of hand, just like Norton.

I don’t see this behavior. When I open the dashboard on my desktop, in addition to Security and the Trusted Advisor sections I see an Online Privacy section and the VPN is shown as off, which it is. I don’t see any popup or push flashing before me to purchase it. When I go to settings, I see 5 categories.

  • General
  • Scan and Detections
  • Protection
  • VPN
  • Notifications

No adverts to buy anything. No reason for me to click on the VPN section. I don’t understand what you are seeing.

One example.

  • my VPN is on and my connection is NOT public. I know this but others may not
  • I didn’t purchase the VPN service. Why is it front and center

The settings example I gave us from desktop

I only use the desktop version and when I go to settings it simply opens up setting wherever I was last. There is no attempt to sell me the VPN.

What I see is the image you linked is obviously not an ad. It is the Dashboard for the mobile app. If you didn’t purchase the VPN then simply scroll on by to the section that interests you.

It’s a product I do not own and is telling me false information. The CTA is a link to buy.

What part of that is not in my way from what I did buy?

I guess we look at things differently. It doesn’t tell you false data, it says the Malwarebytes VPN is not on. The VPN is an option of the software you bought, which you chose not to pickup. Usually when folks complain it is about intrusive ads that pop up, this is not that. Best of luck moving forward.
