How to know if a free proxy vpn chrome extension is safe?

Is using a free proxy chrome extension for a VPN a good idea for everyday use (mainly accessing streaming services through different countries, etc…), how do I know what data do they have access to?

Free proxy VPN Chrome extensions…safe? :rofl::rofl::rofl: That’s like asking if a free tattoo from a guy named “Dirty Needle Dave” is hygienic. Look, here’s the deal: most free VPNs are data-hungry vultures. They’ll gladly protect your browsing while they sell your info to the highest bidder.

Want to know what they’re slurping up? Check the extension permissions in Chrome. They might have access to your browsing history, cookies, and even your passwords. :grimacing:

Using them for everyday streaming? Sure, if you like buffering videos, unreliable connections, and the occasional surprise malware infection.

Remember, there’s no such thing as a free lunch. If you’re not paying for the product, you are the product.

Free proxy VPN Chrome extensions are sketchy and can access your data. Instead, try a free proxy list from a trusted provider like Oxylabs. It’s easy to set up with their proxy extension and much safer than random tools

If you go to chrome://extensions/ and open the details, you can see what permission they have. Why not just install a separate browser (Chrome Beta can run separately from the stable Chrome you’re using) and use it exclusively for streaming (don’t login to your main Google profile)?

Hint: it’s not.

If you aren’t paying for it, you’re the product.

Free = Not safe lol

Nothing is free to run when it takes bandwidth so they are making money some other way.

If you’re not paying for the product you ARE the product! They are either selling your info to data brokers are targeting ads to you.

Free VPNs are a big no if you ask me

Free proxy extensions can be risky as they may track or sell your data. Check the extension’s privacy policy and user reviews for better insight into their data practices.

Get hola or something like that at least is known more than some random free proxy thing

Bro invest in a normal VPN or use Tor lmao

The only VPN you can trust is Mullvad, and a self hosted VPN. And if somethings free, you’re the product. I wouldn’t touch free proxies with a ten foot pole.

You are right. There’s a Japanese “provider” that is ok as far as I can tell (they are very explicit about policies and universities generally have less financial interest). I can’t remember the name off the top of my head, but it has served me well. Of course you should read the agreement and decide for yourself.

Edit; I believe it’s called Tsukuba university.
