How do i use hamachi with retroarch's netplay

Since my router doesnt have port forwarding i wanted to know how you can use hamachi with retroarch, I’ve only read that you can use it but i’ve been scouring the web and haven’t been able to find any tutorial on how to do it. Help apreciated

I haven’t done it myself, but with hamachi, or radmin vpn (which I currently use) you make a room.

The room is your “LAN” each person who joins the room will have a Device name (DESKTOP-IYUHG3 etc), and an IP address (25.663.45.018 etc), with your personal hamachi/radmin LAN IP address also being listed, usually at the top of the hamachi/radmin window.

So you would give your friend your hamachi/radmin IP, or use theirs to connect over the “LAN”.

So when you “connect to host” in ‘retroarch netplay’, and it asks for the “server address”, you would use the LAN IP of the person hosting.

This process also works for any LAN games you could play. I play Diablo 2 with my friends on PC, and it’s the exact same process. I start a radmin room, i send them the room name and password. They join. I start my Diablo 2 server, radmin says my IP is “26.431.14.514” I tell my friends to go to multiplayer, join local, and enter that address.

It’s easy once you’ve done it once, so hopefully this helps, feel free to ask for more help

i thought it was something like that. thanks!

Glad to help, hope you get it working :+1:

I’ll never forget getting Kirby’s dream course netplay working 20 years ago with zsnes, it was a magical experience

absolutely gonna try it right now with a friend
