Help with DMM Player

Error

I fixed it installing a vpn

I used a VPN without problems, you have to wait for the game to open to turn off the VPN

Yeah had the issue rn. Was playing earlier and now had to use a VPN again just to get DMM player launched. I still had it open and it said for DOAXVV that it’s not available in my country. So they are double checking…

That’s a nightmare! Can they stop doing this kind of stupid thing, this is how they treat their foreign customers?

I hope it isn’t another company that will completely cut off non-japan users!
I have 20k premium currency saved for Nyotengu Special Day😱

I once played DOAXVV on Steam, I also had to do so by using a VPN to add the game to my Steam library since I live in the US. However, Steam removed the game from my game library several months ago. Because my chosen OS is Fedora Linux, DOAXVV became unsupported with Proton for Steam, so I could no play it.

The main problem I see with DOAXVV is, even though it’s been translated to English by Koei Tecmo Games, it’s region locked to only Asian-specific countries like Japan, China and Singapore, so this is not just just a DMM Player isolated issue, but is also a constant Steam issue for us non-Asian region players as well.

This is just too bad to because the games developers could potentially make even more cash off the game if they were wise enough to unlock it for us international players as well.

After all, none of the other DOA games is region locked as far as I know, so why is DOAXVV? I can potentially say why: If I hazard a guess, I’m guessing DOAXVV is Asian-region locked because of it’s online services and it’s Asian-specific currency handling system. Perhaps even international country laws also has something to do with this as well?

Happened to me too. From Malaysia.
I just unlocked all of the characters and almost lv70 my Tamaki.

Suddenly this happens.
What a shithole Japan for doing this.

Especially all so sudden.

My previous unexpected workaround using OPNSense+Squid proxy no longer works as of today.

Edit: The address I narrowed it down to last time is still good though if you want to avoid unnecessary traffic going through your VPN and you know how to configure routing tables - send traffic destined for apidgp-gameplayer.games.dmm.com through the VPN.

I can’t login even when I’m using a VPN. What’s the secret?

Not this again! Why did they remove the need for VPN if they were going to add it back again later?

This is just an inconvenience, but now I’m worried they could start enforcing these region locks more seriously. Locks can be easily bypassed, but what if they start banning accounts?

They don’t want foreign customers.

I cant get in at all even with VPN. VPN gets dmm to launch but when you select DoAVX it had no play option any more. Like others have said its stupid to remove need for VPN just to add it back, then remove it again repeat. They already blocked USA customers from buying store stuff long ago ingame, now we cant even play. EDIT: I managed to get it working by tweaking a few settings with help of vpn.

I’m pretty sure they are just afraid of the backlash they would get if they released this game in the west. There are a lot of people here against these kinds of games, and they don’t want it to affect the sales of their other games.

That is why they region locked the game but they still allow us to play it very easily. DMM and Steam try to enforce this region lock, as they do with any other game, but the game’s servers don’t check anything. They even translated the game to English.

Use VPN to login. It’s a stupid DMM thing

I’ve been using free tunnelbear from the US ever since they region locked things (it hasn’t worked without it for me from that point). Sometimes it connects through a VPN/server that is detected by DMM and I’ll get the error TC gets and DMM will refuse to sign in (just pops up a new login screen). Now I have to manually check my VPN IP through a website to make sure it’s connecting through one of the ‘good’ servers before launching things. I’ve never had DMM work without the game working though. After the VPN is connected I launch VV through a desktop icon which opens DMM and automatically opens the VV launcher. From there I close DMM, then the VPN, and start the game through the open launcher. It’s been spotty lately though, and sometimes I have to redo the steps, but eventually I still get in.

I agree.

They even translated the game to English.

However, I think the reason for the games English translation has something to do with the fact that, allot of English-speaking folk live in Asian-region countries.

Yeah. Can login after using VPN. Really sucks that i have to use it eveytime i need to play.

Proton VPN has been working for me every time. It also has Open VPN profiles, which is good, that way you don’t have to trust that the client the company provides is not a trojan.

The last time they did this, it didn’t last very long. Hopefully they remove this bullshit region lock soon.
