Google One VPN - change country for IP Address

Is it possible to use Google One VPN to make it look like I’m connecting to the internet from a different country than I’m actually in? I’m looking to stream some content that is only available to UK residents and I’m in the US.

Thanks.

Goddamnnn it, there is no real use case for this vpn if we can not change the server location…

Sorry, not answering the question but raising a separate problem in that it seems to serve US-based ads even though I’m in the UK. Plus I got a warning off one of my logins that traffic was being routed via Taiwan. So agree with others here that you really need to be able to tailor your experience

I just found a way to use a Broader IP Address Region, which expands it to the entire country rather than local, but I don’t see a way to actually choose a location.

I tried something similar recently but for some reason it doesn’t work when I try to connect abroad

Guys what i can do with this ?

What more, if you don’t live in one of a short list of “developed countries”, you can’t use it at all. I live in Peru, which doesn’t appear on the list of countries it’s available, or even on the list of countries where you can use it while visiting:

Pretty… lame… And now the uninstaller is failing.

No
If you send everything through a VPN, your regular traffic can identify you to anybody based on your IP address. To be genuinely anonymous you need to have two sets of traffic (1) normal (2) true incognito with 2 separate source IP’s.
So for me, a VPN has to have different countries + split tunnelling. I’m not paranoid enough to have 2 separate computers with 2 separate VPN connections (yet), but I can see me getting there as they erode our privacy.

If you think about it whatever Google offer it needs to comply with local law, so all VPN will only provide security within your country, that way they can provide the maximum level of privacy that the country allows without getting caught up in each countries individual hypocrisy - I live in the UK where hypocritic privacy just for the rich seems to be the new normal they are aiming for.

From what I have read, it seems that Google 1 VPN has only three VPN servers and it load balances between them. I am trying to figure out the location of their servers.

He he… If you can’t change the country, then it becomes almost worthless. Sorry Google.

I simply need to access U-Haul in Europe but they’ve blocked their website to NA only. :man_facepalming: Thought G1 VPN would’ve helped -.-

need another proxy when connecting Googleone

This would be easier for those using a Windows based desktop/laptop… you could do a number of things via Windows and DOS to help with the private VPN… but tbh, I don’t know exactly how to run a private VPN via an android phone… do you need to open developer mode on the device and work on it from there, or is it something you upload to the firmware or is it just an install of software from online? I’m curious, because I pay for Disney+ and Netflix for my family to watch… why can’t we be able to access everything? Makes no sense lol…

If anyone knows, please let me know… my 3 and 5yr olds will thank you

VPN main use case is to provide a secure access to internet on unsecured networks.

Just when you’re connected over unsecured wifi for some reason (e.g. airports, hotels). But I agree the bigger utility of VPN’s is to change location and it’s missing here.

I think the same here. It is amazing that Google is giving us the VPN with our current subscription… But I kind of want to change my server location, so I gonna keep using NordVPN

There is a use for it but I’m not going to say what it is I jus don’t wonder why goole would cater to those type of people

Yeah basically the only benefits outside of that are pretty theoretical. Minimize some tracking from third party sites, but most practical benefit for a VPN I agree is geolocations switching

Conversely I get nothing but UK ads regardless of what country I’m in while using the G1 VPN
