Google Chrome Showing my real IP address despite VPN

I recently purchased NordVPN and last weekend, I downloaded some stuff off the torrents. Before I did though, I checked IP Magnet to be sure that my Ip address did change. After confirming that my IP address was different, I downloaded torrents.

Today, out of curiosity, I went onto Google Chrome Incognito and with the VPN on, I checked my Ip address and in Incognito it showed my real IP address. Then I went back to regular google and it showed the VPN address.

I then checked my IP address in Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge and they all show my real IP address in these programs! I’m not sure what’s going on and if Nord is working. Why is this happening? I’ll also note that I have the Nord VPN extension on Chrome turned on as well as the Nord Application turned on too.

TLDR: My real Ip address shows in Google Chrome Incognito and other internet browsers despite VPN.

Edit: I figured out the problem, I had split tunneling feature enabled which I turned off and now everything is working normally. Thank you all for your help!

Don’t use both the app and the extension - there’s no reason to do so and it just hinders your connection. What is more, the extension will only work on a browser level (while the app covers the whole device), so it will only cover the browser it is active on. By default all extensions are disabled on incognito mode, so that would mean that you have the connection of the extension active and the app is not properly connected. Remove the extension, restart the app and make sure you’re connected. If it shows you’re connected but the IP doesn’t change - reinstall the app and check again.

I added my browser to the app’s split tunneling and use the extension for the browser instead. The extension lets me exclude specific domains, which is useful for certain websites where my real IP is needed.
