Good, affordable VPN for Macs?

Have you considered using alternate search engines? Using Google with a VPN seems really counterproductive.

Well, that sounds bad. Thanks for the warning.

Is Mullvad faster than or comparable speed-wise to Nord/Surf?

PIA is Israeli fyi. Not really a bastion of privacy

Me too. No issues and fast connections

Also a fan of SurfShark. Using the VPN for about 2 years. I like the VPN so much, I activated the other tools last week… and the anti-virus scan actually found some stuff!

I’ve used it too, but will switch when my prepaid 3 years end in a few months. They’re owned by previous adware firm Kape who’s acquiring many VPN companies such as ExpressVPN like a typical venture capitalist. And I prefer to deal less with US-based companies. More about Kape https://youtu.be/pJtGkJDURhk

I might switch to Mozilla VPN which is a resell of Sweden-based (IIRC) Mullvad, plus throws some support to Mozilla in hopes they can stick around.

Yes, been with them for many years. Before purchasing a VPN I did a good amount of research. PIA had the best track record.

You most likely can’t run Mullvad VPN and Tailscale at the same time. However, you can use Tailscale with Mullvad exit nodes - it’s an extra add-on to Tailscale.

Forgot to answer the rest of your question. Mullvad is a good VPN, that will probably will be what I switch to next when my Proton subscription is over. I would recommend Proton though as it’s a good service. I just can’t continue to use them out of principle atm

It’s not a big privacy issue for my use case since I only use it when connected to public Wi-Fi networks because I’m always on the go.

All my company’s emails and documents are already on Google Workspace services, so they probably know more about my life than I do. :eyes:

However, I use Zen Browser or Firefox and when I need to perform a more private search I use duckduckgo.

And besides, the captcha problem doesn’t only occur on Google, there are several sites that use Cloudflare as a WAF and they usually show their challenge, asking if I’m human.

I’ll raise a support ticket with them next time I see the challenge.

I had this issue a few years ago, but since then I have had no issues. Also I had the same issue with every VPN at the time. I always have ProtonVPN running on my iPhone, iPad, and Mac and just searched on Google with no CAPTCHA or Cloudflare checkboxes. I don’t remember the last time I had to do one on Google.

it is trust worthy 100%. i cant recommend it speed wise sorry as i haven’t compared the three

they have a good reputation.

Surfshark also has good discounts when you have an affiliate code. My last renewal was Surfshark one for three years for like $70

Appreciate that a lot. Everything works so flawlessly as easily that it’s hard to not think it’s just pretending to do anything at all.

this exactly, I use the mullvad add on on tailscale

Alright good to know. Thanks

Sorry, what is the principle?

Yep, I think it’s a regional issue.
When I choose another region/ country instead of quick connect it works in 99% of cases.
