Good, free, and easy
What do you recommend?
If free and good are mutually exclusive, then “affordable” would be okThe VPN that was in Malwarebytes is apparently the Mullvad VPN and it’s not bad. Is that a good choice?
Mullvad or ProtonVPN are reputable
Another vote for Mullvad. I love to use it with Tailscale, such a good combo.
Free = your the product and defeats the purpose of a VPN. Pay the money for a reputable VPN
I do not recommend Proton VPN.
I’ve prepaid nearly three years for Proton VPN, only to find out I can’t perform a single Google search without constantly encountering CAPTCHA challenges and Cloudflare boxes to check if I’m human.
I used Mullvad before switching to Avast and regret it. Avast has been unstable and bloated. Mullvad just worked.

Mullvad or ProtonVPN, proton has a “free tier” which is always at like max capicity, and has a low do drawbacks, but if you’re looking for a one off type thing, or when you’d rarely need it very good option, Mullvad does not have port forwarding, so if you pirate it may be a downside for you. Either-way, both are highly recommend and awesome options.
Despite the ill will it generates because it advertises on YouTube, Nord is a great VPN that’s consistently highly rated in the tech press. My own experience is positive too.

Probably going to be an unpopular opinion but I have had NordVPN for about a decade now and I am happy with it.
What about private internet access?
Roll your own and use tunnel block. VPS are cheap

Been using NordVPN for the last 3 months and works like a charm, super fast speeds and with the dedicated IP (which is not expensive) you get the best out of it.
I’ve been using Windscribe for years. You can usually find a pretty good deal for a few years on StackSocial.
