I just tried to connect to the #1-Vanilla server but was kicked off because connection via VPN/Proxy are not allowed.
Sorry to disagree but I’m not behind any of those. Who do I talk to to get this fixed? The wiki page doesn’t say anything about VPN blocks …
My provider’s AS is 12337 if that’s relevant.
I think VPN are blocked, not by the vanilla game itself, but by the servers administrator system. Try others servers, you may find one that work with VPN
The reason VPN connexion are blocked, is probably for prevent banned player to join the game by hiding their identity via VPN
Umm, sorry, but did you even read my post? I am not using a VPN.
Also the server’s name literally is “#1 Vanilla”. I’m asking here because the thing is associated with this Reddit channel. See bottom right of your screen (assuming you’re reading this on the web).
you didn’t said clearly you aren’t using a VPN in your post. your formulation is confusing.
I see what servers you are mentioning. In that case, there is a discord where you can contact the admin of these servers.
If you haven’t already done it, I also suggest to check on google what could cause such issue. using a free wifi, like in an intercontinental airport (in real life, not in game) could cause such issue

In any case, I have no idea how the server operator determines that something is a VPN or not. Obviously whichever method they use replies to them with a false positive. I’m pretty sure that there’s no way for me to affect that reply when I don’t know its cause or origin, thus asking me to google-or-whatever isn’t likely to be helpful IMHO.
Go to the main discord server for the openttd community.
Ask for a whitelist because your IP might have been used by a VPN service back in the day.
well if you insist I’ll clarify my mean. the complet sentence is “Sorry to disagree but I’m not behind any of those” and it is very unclear. the word “disagree” is used for opinion/relative things, and it sound like you disagree with the admin decision to not allow VPN/proxy user - which you are refering in the previous sentence.
I suggested to use discord for contact the admin, because i saw them active on it recently, and because it will be faster than a post this reddit.
I also suggest to google your problem, because you might not get an answer from the admin immediately, and also because VPN/proxy error are very common, there can be multiple reason to, and it would save a lot of time if you already checked by yourself the most obvious case, like playing on a public wifi in an intercontinental airport (in real life, not in game)
