I have a work provided laptop with Cisco Anyconnect VPN. I am often using public wifi. Does this VPN keep all of my traffic safe or is it just something some of my work tools use? I know you can’t know the settings, but is that a possible or common setup?
I expected the VPN to change my public IP but I’ve found that it isn’t. I have been using it for awhile and banking thinking I was secure, but now I’m unsure.

Then it’s doing split tunnel.
Even if it was full tunnel, it would be using your work’s public IP.
Don’t do personal shit on company property.
Cisco AnyConnect simply allows your work laptop to access your companies’ resources without you being in the office. (this is the only part that’s secure) It’s not creating a private tunnel for all your internet traffic.
You’re not secure on public wifi.
Does that mean that it is not secure?
The nature of my job makes it a necessity to use the company pc for personal things. I just want to know if the VPN keeps my personal traffic secure?
Thank you. That’s the answer I was looking for. I felt like this question was pissing everybody else off.
I can’t think of any circumstance whatsoever where I would do personal anything on a work device. You don’t have to, but would you care to explain that? Because I’m curious.
Does that mean that it is not secure?
It secures traffic to your company resources.

That’s not the purpose of a VPN
I am away from home several days a week. Though I could pack a 2nd laptop, and sometimes do. I often need to travel light. Obviously some personal matters will need attention. I don’t want to wait 4 days to take care of things. My company understands my position and had written policy on it. It’s basically don’t be a dick on social media.
I’m not at all worried about my company seeing my activities. I move all personal files to personal storage. My only concern is third parties intercepting information I’m sending over wifi while sitting at an airport. I am now understanding that my company VPN is not helping me with that and I need to setup my subscription VPN on here for that.
