Does anyone use Spectrum's Security Suite?

Spectrum internet customers are able to install Charter’s Security Suite on up to ten (10) computers.

Does anyone use their security suite? What are your thoughts on it?

It is actually good. I had a friend get a virus that wouldn’t allow him to access internet so we loaded the antivirus on his pc and it found the issue and fixed his computer

It’s one of those antivirus systems that if it detects another antivirus, it assumes it’s a virus.

It’s really good for what it does, but the hassle to download it is usually what turns people off of it. F secure is just a generally good product in general

I use a different product but as others note, Spectrum’s is probably fine. I think the cable industry, starting with Comcast, began giving away A/V services about 15 years ago to try to tamp down on botnets from insecure and infected customer PCs.

It’s F-Secure rebranded. It’s great for free, and better than windows defender.

If you don’t have another solution that you like, definitely worth using it.

Yes I just started using it yesterday running real good had McAfee always had issues and this is free too !sp far so good computor seems faster today

How do you even use the security suit?

How do I get F-Secure Banking from blocking almost every website I pull up?

Maybe the Spectrum Suite is free, and a decent software choice because it installs back doors, rootkits, etc for big cable to Spy/farm data to sell its possible right? no free meals/Rides in life. users beware lol

Installed on both my MacBook and iMac, it does not cause any adverse effects on either computer.

It’s pretty good. Can be a resource hog when it updates, but does it’s job well enough

ALL antivirus software detects and flags other antivirus software as a virus. That’s why the installation instructions clearly say to REMOVE any existing a/v prior to installation of another a/v software.

Out was very easy to download no problem at all easier than mccaffe which was awful

do you have to disable windows defender?

Just log on to your Spectrum user account, look for Internet->Manage under Your Services, and there you’ll see Download Security Suite under Explore.

I believe you can “white list” some sites but I was never able to.

I think it’d be easy to find out. A little forensics. Wireshark, decompile the exe, have the installation monitored by free program to see all changes? If they weren’t selling data, then I’d be scared. Back doors? I mean they are the isp. They open the front door. This is windows only, so the obscurity of telecom doesn’t apply. I’d figure it sells and analyzes data but I think my dog even does that. I’ll give it a run. They already have all the PC and traffic info so no need to check that. As I type this I’m starting to realize there’s probably no pointto analyzing it period they already have everything they need period so it comes down to is there a better free one? I’m sure there is, and you better believe they are trying to sell your soul! Spectrum can preserve major bandwidth just by limiting bot net.

Users… don’t trip. Uninstal if you don’t like. Then pay for one.

Also it isn’t free! Ya have to be a PAYING customer… duur

That’s what I would be looking at. Maybe lower priority of its services and bandwidth?

The installer disables windows defender automatically, so yes.

This is windows only

I somehow missed that this suite even existed until today (talk about a duur…), which is what lead me here. Anyhoo, it is also available for Mac
