I’m trying to create a new account and setup the Play Store to the NZ location.
These are the steps I did:
factory reset an old tablet I dismissed years ago;
logged in with a new account I created during the setup process of the tablet first access;
logged in to Nord VPN and set the location to NZ and never closed the App since then;
setup the account Home Address in the Google Account settings to a random NZ location.
Still, the Play Store seemed not set to NZ yet, and the “Switch your location to New Zealand” options button was greyed out, so I went to Payments Settings (as I read online to do). But there I cannot see where the location is set cause Google just prompt me to add a payment method and I don’t see any way to skip this step
Do you know if I did any mistake or is it actually mandatory to add a card?
Ok, the problem was that I created the account on the first device boot, so I had no way to use VPN. I’ll maybe try to create a new one from my PC while beeing in NZ and then try to login on that device to see if the Play Store location changes.
What about the APK? Would it be just fine to use it while having the VPN in background without tinckering with the Google Account? What about app updates? Would I need to manually download each one at every release?
Do you have a basic outline of how you did it with Pokemon Go?
First step as I understand it - I need to find a place that will let me download the APK when it becomes available Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Do I need to download an alternative to the Play Store to unpack it as well or can I go through mobile chrome on my phone?
I don’t know. I didn’t want to change my main account location so I tried to setup the Play Store with a new account already created for NZ.
I never used APKs before, so my preference was for a legit download from Play Store. I don’t even know if with APK there will be a Google account location check on login or anything else, so I’m very confused on how to prepare for the soft launch.
You download the APK from somewhere, try to never download another “store”, some are good but it’s better to just download the APK directly.
Then when it’s downloaded you just run it from your download folder in chrome, as if you were to open a normal file, it will either tell you that you have to turn on external installations (there are guides for that and it’s pretty easy), or it will just install it and you’re done.
