Can pointers about setting up my own vpn?

I want to set up a vpn from my house. So that if I use it it seems like I’m accessing internet from my place. But I don’t have a spare computer.

Can I use an arduino or something and connect it to my router to set up the network?

PiVPN should get you started in the right direction.

Tailscale + exit node + subnet router

PIVPN is good. Using a router that can host a VPN is better. Lots of videos on YouTube and the GL-Inet routers are the gold standard.

Was going down the same path when I realized my router already had the capability. Worth checking…

Check current router for capability of running vpn server like wireguard and if you can configure port forwarding.
Get something like gl.inet Burme2 (on sale at the moment) . You can use it as vpn server alone or you can use as secondary router between isp and wifi AP, which will give you network wide adblocker.

I have Wireguard running on my OpenWRT router or a cheap SBC and use PiVPN.

duckdns or freedns assuming that you have a dynamic IP + port forwarding + pivpn or something similar. It can be done with a 15$ pi02w if you don’t want to spend much. The network speed will not be great but it’s good for the price.

Agree wholeheartedly. https://www.pivpn.io Installation is easy. The hardest part will be port forwarding setup in your router.
