I work for a company that doesn’t supply the wifi password to employees. Recently a co-worker said someone on another shift “used a vpn to connect my phone to the wifi”. Now I looked at his phone, it has a VPN checked on and ita connected to the wifi. He didn’t know what she did, and personally I’ve never used a vpn. So any information would be cool. I tried googling some stuff but most of what I get is can a vpn steal my password or can I use a vpn on work computers etc… idk I just want to watch videos at work and I get no service in thus building haha.
No. If you don’t have the password to a wi-fi network, you’re not connecting to that network.
No it shouln’t unless you are an hacker
No. To connect with a VPN, you will need Wi-Fi, and to connect to Wi-Fi, you will need a password too.
If he was connected to WiFi then she must’ve added the WiFi password and used the vpn either to protect his traffic from corporate eyes or its on an iPhone and its a self hosted vpn app to privatize dns settings. Just a possibility.
Yea, that’s exactly the function of a VPN.
Thank you for the reply!
Thank you for the reply
He does have an iPhone, but he would still need the Wifi password so rip idk haha
I think he’s just being sarcastic
What, what???
Why would I pay for internet, if I could just run a $3 VPN!!!
That’s not how it works, that’s not how any of it works!!!
