Azure VM with Softether VPN server using a Bm2 series

I just created a VPN server using Softether sever on a VM Bm2 series with 2 vcpu and 4 gb ram.

Im using this VPN server to connect to other Virtual machines that have SQL Server installed. What I noticed is that once I connect to the VPN on my computer the connection is kind of slow. Im new to VPN, does the type of machine could affect the connectivity speed or what should I look for to have a good speed? Once I disconnect from VPN and try to access those Virtual machines using RDP the connection speed increases considerably.

Any advice?

Burstable machines don’t have the best throughput, especially when recently started— although any small VM SKU is likely to have poor performance.

See if it becomes tolerable after leaving the VM running for 6-12 hours, as it should accumulate some CPU credits. If that is still insufficient, I’d try a small D series.

Otherwise, I’d start looking at a VPN Gateway. It should provide consistent, acceptable performance.
