Hi Guys,
I am using the Azure pricing calculator to price up a basic VPN Gateway.
VPN Gateway Type: VPN
I just want this to be a VPN between a Cisco ASA on-prem to Azure.
But what is confusing me is " Outbound Inter-VNET data transfers"
Do I need to factor in how much data will be pulled from Azure down to the on-prem infrastructure.
Two questions, do I need to factor that in for what I am trying to do and if I do need to how to you calculate it?
Inter vnet is pricing if you used a vpn to connect azure Vnets together instead of using peering. Switch that to VPN and estimate your bandwidth across the tunnel to get the pricing
Yes. Data to Azure is free, data out of azure costs $$. It also does add up quickly. If you know what you’re putting in Azure you may be able to monitor the traffic from it for a day or so and estimate, but it will always be just an estimate.
VNG have two pricing components. You have the hour run time of the VNG and then you have the data bandwidth over that connection. Below is the link to the bandwidth pricing.
The first 5gb is free and you are only charged from egress. There are zones and region info to take into account but if I’m honest at $0.085/GB (worst case scenario) a TB of egress is $87. This is generally a non-factor for most situations.
