Automatic point to point VPN Hardware?

Hey all,

I have a specific use case in mind, that would need to be as streamlined as possible. I’m wondering if there is a way to send out some kind of hardware to a client and have them only plug in power and hardwired internet and have the unit automatically connect to another unit at my house forming a direct connection. Sorry in advance if this is something frequently mentioned, I just don’t know what to search for!

I think you are talking about keepmyhomeip.com !

If you know their own router ip details you can configure a router to send them that has a vpn client built in and point it to your address. You then need to forward the incoming port to your endpoint. Going to do this for myself as a private vpn at my home address fur review working abroad

A little off topic, but you trust clients VPNing into your internet? Sounds like a liability nightmare.

I have done this before. I just bought a travel router, set up a VPN connection on it, and sent it over. I even set it to search for and connect to their wifi, and then rebroadcast another wifi. Anything connected to the new wifi goes through the VPN tunnel. That’s how unavailable streaming platforms were made available to my family overseas.

This does look like what I need! Thank you!

Yeah, that’s what I’m looking for. Is there any kind of ‘plug and play’ system out there for this? I just need it to be as dummy proof as possible.

Definitely a valid concern, but it would be essentially a ‘headless’ system, the client wouldn’t do anything with the unit, and it would interface only with analog audio gear.

Here’s a free guide to do it yourself: https://thewirednomad.com/vpn

I used Draytek routers which were foolproof before. I’ve also used himachi vpn software for PC to PC for the same purpose. Myself, I’m going to setup a raspberry pi zero
