Received an email this morning that my account was blocked for “some unusual activity which breaches our fair usage policy.” I’ve read through the ToS and I haven’t violated any of the rules. I’m wondering if this is because I recently shared my account info with my wife or because I never bother turn off my connection. Any other experiences here? I know there are other options out there that may be better or just as good so I’m not completely bummed out, I’m just surprised this happened considering I had just paused SurfShark because the Reddit app was being glitchy and then received the email a few minutes later.
Edit/Update: I reached out to support via chat, they still won’t tell my why my account got blocked. Interestingly enough, over the last week my Reddit feed was full of subreddits from India and I couldn’t figure out why. I’m in the US and always used US or UK servers (UK for Netflix). Since my account has been blocked the India subreddits are gone. I’m beginning to think my account was compromised and/or sold. Seems to be an issue with VPN’s.
New Update: Just spent an hour on the phone with PayPal regarding another situation, my old address, name and social security number was used along with an unknown phone number and unknown email address to open an account. The only way I discovered this is because a PayPal debit card was sent to my old address with my name on it. Lucky for me I know the couple that bought my old house. I called PayPal on Saturday to report the card, didn’t get the promised follow up so I called again tonight and got the full story. Unfortunately, I’m guessing the two issues might be related.
