Like a lot of people, I am using an Argentinian account for Youtube to have easy access to Premium. Youtube just sent me an email that VISA is apparently blocking credit cards from outside the country going forward:
Due to a recent change in Visa’s processing policies in Argentina, payments may be declined if your card was not issued by an Argentine Bank. If you use an international Visa credit card or debit card, payments may fail and your subscription may be suspended. To avoid a disruption in your membership and other purchases, please add an Argentinian-issued credit card to your payment methods as a primary or as a backup payment method.
Is this a new thing or is this already known? Any ideas how to keep this going are super appreciated. Thanks!
So, comparing prices and the fact it should be harder to establish such a practice due to the proximity and geopolitical landscape of our countries, I decided to move to Turkey.
It does really scrutinize on login, gives you a bit of a 2FA puzzle with multiple devices maybe, but if you do incognito behind VPN you should afterwards be good to literally just sub to the TR version of Premium.
I had no problems setting it up when I tried it, though we never know when YouTube is going to crack down on people like us. Until then this works though, so yeah, no guarantees but I could easily do it.
Hello guys! I have a family sub I set up via a vpn in Argentina a few years now and fortunately it has been OK so far. One of my family members received an email saying ’ confirm your address to avoid loosing premium access '. This person that got the email does not live in the same household/ country. On the other hand I am not sure what address YT wants the person to confirm, the Argentinian one I used to sign up or my home address? I have both on my YT account in different payment profiles. thanks
YouTube Premium memberships based in Argentina require a form of payment issued in Argentina.
To maintain your membership, please update your form of payment to one issued in Argentina before November 21, 2024. If you do not update your form of payment, your membership will not renew automatically, and you will lose access to your YouTube Premium benefits.
I got declined with visa, but opened an revolut account, and used the digital mastercard. Worked like a charm.
DM me if you want an invite to revolut, and i’ll split the money reward with you.
So I purchased YT Premium using Revolut (Visa Card) on the 16th. Got email today saying Revolut is closing my account for ToS Violation… Still have YT Premium on my account though.
