Windscribe banned on Chrome?

Yeah but on windows 11 you also need to know you have to change html from the weird options (on windows 10 it was way clearer)

Yeah, I got that. Just wanted to give the Brave info. There’s lots of BS about Brave on Reddit but I have come to trust the people working on it. Used to use Vivaldi but had a bad support experience that had me switching to Brave. I think both will try to keep extensions working but much will depend on the developer side eventually. Hope something works out for you.

Well yes and no it will be stopped supporting in a certain chromium version and indeed some browsers take longer to update (chrome will indeed get first cause chrome is updated in like really fast because google also has the most control over the chromium project) their chromium version but in like 2 weeks it would be on basically most chromium browsers and some maby 1-2 months (it all depends on how fast browsers update).

Not updating the chromium version for browsers is not really an option because then they would alsp not receive chromium updates nor patches including security issues (and zero-days)

And on top of all of that the chrome webstore (where 99% of people install extensions) beign controlled by google would stop supporting manifest v2 meaning that you will have to manually download extensions (nor always possible) and unpack them using extensions devmode (wich you also have to enable) so you basically will have to sideload extensions and not all extensions will be able to be sideloaded and you also have to know how to do it

So in like a month or 2 when it actually gets implemented on all browsers you’re screwed

Because not updating chromium version is a huge security risk so they are not going to do that (atleast i hope most browsers just update for security reasons as beign stuck on very old chromium is very dangerous)

Also you can enable a flag [browser]://flags
The one for enterprise (you can just enable it on your pc you don’t have to be an enterprise) that will support manifest v2 extensions you already have but this is only for 1 year after that this flag gets removed and basically everything above is then again so basically if you really want you can keep your current extensions for 1 year (the ones you already have) but this is only a short term option aftrr that you may have to live with it or switch to a firefox based browser (mozilla currently has no plans to stop supporting manifest v2)

Thats almost impossible…
Source?

According to their blog they’re vague about when they’ll stop supporting manifest v2. They’re saying they might follow the chromium roadmap or they might support manifest v2 for longer - depending on effort required.

They only thing they’re clear about is that they have their own built-in blocker, which isn’t dependent on Chrome’s extension architecture, while extensions like uBlock Origin or Windscribe still is.

Vivaldi on Facebook and here on reddit

Vivaldi, Brave and some other Chromium-based browsers will probably keep support for manifest v2 extensions until mid 2025 based on the code existing for enterprise support. When after that all the code necessary for manifest v2 support will be entirely removed from Chromium codebase - then they also will be forced to discontinue these extensions (otherwise they will be essentially forced to fork off Chromium).

Thank you so if i understand corectly they will just enable the flag for the 1 year enterprise support in chromium in [browser]://flags for you?
