Will a VPN show websites visited through wifi?

When connected to my home wifi with VPN can my parents see what websites I go to? My friend from school sent me a funny video and I clicked and watched it. Later that night my parents brought up the video and showed where I clicked on it from my device. If I get VPN will it stop my parents from seeing the websites I go on while connected to wifi?

Side note I am an adult just in college and moved in with parents for semester. Any help will be greatly appreciated

Yes, a correctly setup VPN will hide your browsing from your fascist parents.

This is assuming that they haven’t setup some type if monitoring software directly on your devices.

I suggest you also password protect your devices when you leave them at home since they’ve already shown to not be respectful of your privacy.

your parent will see that you connected to the vpn ip, the only way they could see what you are requesting to the vpn is if they install a keylogger on your system to log what you are typing on the keyboard and if they have your password they can remote login into your computer using software like ssh and check your browsing history.

They aren’t that tech savvy. I just need a way to visit websites without them knowing what site I visited

For them to know what you browsed they would have to log your dns, which means you are using your isp dns instead of a public one like open dns, but you also said they showed where you ( clicked on it from your device) which tells me that they have access to your computer and you are underestimating them, otherwise your description is vague.
