Why nobody uses Opera Browser

I downloaded it and it’s been 1 weeks. In my opinion, the most unique and best interface is in Opera browser. It also caught my attention that it is stable and does not slow down, but I only saw one problem and that is that the translation sometimes doesn’t work.

Why Opera Not Popular? (Except Privacy)

Because the company is all over the place. Too many versions and changes in direction and being brought out then stagnated. They’ve been around for 2 decades you know.

I used to run it over a decade ago on my PC and then tried it when it went to Android around 10 years ago… but since then they stagnated and doesn’t support decent plugins.

Give IceRaven browser a go if you like Opera’s UI… it’s a fork of Firefox.

it seems OP created an account just to convince people to use Opera!

Because I don’t like what it has become over the years, and I don’t see the point in having two google chromes.

I don’t use it often but it’s one of the 6 browsers I have installed.

Opera was great in 2011/2012 with opera mini

I also like the UI of Opera browser.

Because Firefox natively supports extensions. Plus I don’t need my data phoning home to vichina.

Maybe their built-in ad platform has something to do with it?

Or this bad default setting?

Why nobody - I use it. I started using this browser on my PC almost at the time when it was just released. That’s when it was truly innovative and cutting-edge. At that time(~1997), there were only two other browsers besides this one: Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer. But both browsers did not have the ability to have multiple tabs. Opera was the first browser to do so. True, there was another program (from Chinese developers): MyIE2. But it was not a separate browser at that time, but an fundamental add-on to Internet Explorer. When it was installed, the ability to have multiple tabs also appeared in the “donkey”(IE).
Then, after some time, that program transformed into an independent one, and the developers changed the name. This is how the Maxthon browser appeared. It still exists.
And Opera has changed beyond recognition since then. Now it uses the same “ENGINE” that is used in Chromium. But there is no compatibility with add-ons for the lame spy browser from Google. However, Opera has many of its own advantages.

The style may attract some sophistication, but this browser lacks integrity and many elements are piled up. This is my conclusion about the opera when it was at its peak. Look at Vivaldi, it’s the same (mess) because the creators are former developers of that opera, before the Chinese. There is no holistic vision, it feels like every bar/panel, every function was created by a separate team. As a result, although the idea is good, the incompleteness is even more annoying. The case when the team lacks a tough (even greedy) leader with good taste.

There’s just one Quetta and it’s pretty flawless. One version and it just… works.

From a point ur true but from another… It’s not that great it’s just it feels too old and opera gx just feels older :skull:

If you downloaded it a few days ago, what exactly is “it” that’s been 2 weeks?

theres no except privacy. Opera is operated by a chinese company which means half the government have their noses in that browser. Your browser is probably the most weakest point surfing on web at all. So if ive trust issues with a chinese software owner, i dont see any point using it

Many advertised features don’t work, like the Opera “Flow” has not been working for months in stable version. Many other bugs that you don’t get in Chrome or Edge. I moved to Edge for the integrated tts and copilot

I do. It’s super fast and convenient.

For me, it’s the translation and ad blocker. But in my opinion, the Opera interface is the best compared to other browsers

I had some issues with it even though I liked it, but after I had uninstalled a version of it and I kept getting desktop popups asking me to reinstall it I will never reinstall it. If I remove you from a system it is not an opportunity for you to hide advertisements.

I don’t know how it was 10 years ago, but it’s perfect now. Now I downloaded IceRaven but the interface looks nothing like it (more like Kiwi Browser) and unfortunately it is slow and heavy.
