Which VPN is the best?

From an OPSEC perspective, what VPN do you prefer to use?

No “real” hacker uses only a VPN, as they should use tor wherever possible. However, when tor is not available, Mullvad VPN is the best. They even got raided by the Swedish feds a while back but they couldn’t find anything because Mullvad keeps no logs.

It’s best practice not to trust any company with your traffic though.

I like Proton VPN. Absolutely open to better suggestions, though.

Overall, if we are only talking about VPN, then Mullvad, and pay via Monero

I’ve been using ProtonVPN the past 2 years and I love the service. You get a lot more than VPN access with a proton account too, such as email and storage. Though this year, I am switching to Mullvad. It’s simply cheaper and honestly, the serivce is pretty strong. They have made a great name for themselves. I also considered IVPN but they are just as pricy as Proton but you get a bit less.

Right now, those are probably the only three VPN companies I would trust. If all you want is better access to streaming services, any VPN will do just fine. If you are tying to hide your activity, go with a service you 100% with your data. If you just want some extra security, a VPN may not assist in ways you think.

Products like NordVPN and ExpressVPN are alright, but they put all their profits into advertising, not the product. They aren’t fully honest with how they advertise either. Not sure about you, but I stay away from any business that operates that way. Products like PIA are US based. I love myself an American made company but I rarely trust them with my data, if I have a choice.

Do your research and find what’s best for you. Use Reddit (and the site above) for recommendations but don’t blindly follow them.

I like ProtonVPN. You should consider trying Proxy chaining

Okay so all the comments say Mullvad, i’ll try it out but can I also ask if there is an issue with proton? I kinda like it + the company is actually pretty good + its swedish too (i think). Im just curious as to why Proton isn’t on the list

Here for the recommendations

reember nordvpn got a huge data leack they try to hide.

Does proxy chain replace VPN? Lol

Mullvad is the only answer. No email required to sign up, just a random account number that’s generated and you top it up

I was a Mullvad customer for years, but I switched to AirVPN since they removed port forwarding support; both are my favorite choices

I am quite happy with ProtonVPN, seems quite safe and easy to use.

theres a new VPN… its called Turisvpn. ive tried few other but for some reason its just not working for me. i use it for my personal shopping business. cant access alot of websites in the usa from where im from in Malaysia. its less than rm10 a month so i thought of signing up. anyone heard of them before?

I use NORD VPN.

Fast connections and a proven track record.

Internxt now has a free and encrypted VPN, you can try it out here and we will soon add more countries!

The best VPN is what GFW can not detect! You can use Open-source protocols on a private server to have the best VPN, if you don’t want the hassle and need access to different locations you can use RookVPN. Transparency is key. Big VPNs don’t share their protocols and backend data handling. New v2ray-based VPNs that are used for bypassing GFW in China are at the cutting edge of encryption and obfuscation and we use them and also support the developers to keep it growing. Don’t pay a big company to develop their proprietary software to make more money, instead help community-based projects that will benefit all.

I’ve been using TurisVPN for quite some time now and I highly recommend it. It’s very easy to use and their premium plan is quite affordable. Definitely give it a try!

You should never use a PAID VPN to do any sort of masking your identity, you are literally putting all your eggs in one basket, putting your name on every one of those eggs, and then hoping your tracks are covered. It’s actually more anonymous to get a laptop you paid for in cash and go to a public place with public wifi and use it without VPN than it is to pay for a VPN.

Even if you didn’t pay for it with your information, there is still the issue with them installing their certificate authorities on your PC, giving them full access to hijack every bit of communication you make even when not using a VPN.

Commercial VPNs do not offer privacy nor protection for you, they only offer one thing and one thing only: access to regional content.

I pay a friend in a another country to keep a VPS account for me. I have a debian box installed with OpenVPN using port 443 and some linux UFW rules to clean up the traffic. With the VPS account, I have the option to change the IP to where ever the VPS company has presence.
