I’ll be in china for about a month, I already got astrill but does anybody have any suggestion on a good backup? (I see Letsvpn and Mullvad is recommended, so that’s certainly an option)
You can never know with china so I would just like to get at least one more in my arsenal before I leave for my trip.
I know there are v2rays and shadowsocks but I have no idea how to use them or how to navigate them so please don’t suggest them. I’d rather stick to something I know how to use, unless someone gives me a step by step process on how it works and how to make it work lol.
Have you chosen an eSIM provider? If not, you can check Yesim, as you will get both an internet data package for China along with the free VPN installed in the app. So, it will be like a combined solution for you.
I concur. For example a Duck Talk one from HK (you can find out on Taobao), one year for below 200 RMB. volume is limited, but service will continue even when the President has an important meeting, which is exactly what you want.
(BTW phones sold in China normally don’t support esim, but typically have dual sim)
v2rayNG and Shadowsocks are clients that can run plenty of different protocols, including Outline and various SSHocean protocols. Often can simply create by QR code.
I am also using it but it’s not as reliable as before. It’s impossible to have decent connection throughout a day and you need constantly to reconnect to be able to have some connection. For the price of 180$ it is totally unacceptable what they are offering now. I like its simplicity and router applet but their servers for China are not as good as before.
