What happened to pandaVPN?

Someone in this sub mentioned that panda was blacklisted in China after a white paper was published? What was that about? Any chance they recover from that?

It is a shame because in term of price and speed panda was top notch. I have been using it since they launched and not just in China. Their servers were great for watching Netflix and Disney+ content from different countries.

In 2022, I purchased Panda VPN subscription for six months and paid USD 47/. In 3 days it stopped working in China, so I deleted the account and requested refund.

Not only they ignored my email, I just found out that they kept charging me - in total I lost around USD200. I wrote them again but they ignored my request. I think, Panda VPN is a well elaborated scam. If anyone know where are they based, please let me know.

A few of them were not blacklisted as such but they had disclaimers saying they refused to or found it too difficult to bypass Chinese blocks. Unfortunately, China is good at this kind of thing. In Vietnam, they blocked google.com but you could easily use Google uk, de etc.

Spoiler alert: They are dead.

It’s not just in China. Since last summer, their VPN Pro service has been inoperational in the United States and Southeast Asia as well. Sent three emails regarding their service and to cancel, no response from support.

Also, “the number you have dialed is not in service.” Then they charged the $60/year subscription fee. Only way to cancel is to contact them. You can see how this cycle doesn’t work. A hard no.

There’s over 10 million Google Play Store installs on their PRO app. That’s an insane amount of dough they’ve collected. I get it, circumstances change, but have a pulse and do what’s right. Instead, they are now part of the problem.

Wait really? Vietnam government blocked google.com? I’m currently using it in Vietnam like normal.

I see.

And yeah panda servers stopped working anywhere not just China

I’m in the US and their servers were working as recently as November.

Can you recommend another server that is comparable to Panda in speed and price

I’m so glad that you posted that they’re dead … I took the 1 year + 1 year free deal to use as a back up plan and it really wasn’t that good once I’d paid … tried to get help … they ignored me … asked for my money back … they ignored me.

Now I know to stop wasting any time with them and delete their apps.

WOW … 10 million installs … what a great business plan … get someone from another big brand to leave & build you a new app that initially looks great & sucks people in to buy … then fade off into the ether. A great ‘Cash Cow’ … like an old pyramid scheme.

As I mentioned above, they were my backup plan to another new service I was trying, which was recommended to me via another reddit China user. I’ve been using this ‘other’ service since September 2022 … after I got totally fed up with ExpressVPN in September 2022. I began to use ExpressVPN from December 2021 and they were useless and inconsistent (internet access constantly intermittent, dropped, blocked) and their support people just went through a ‘play’ book of answers given, starting at page one everytime. ExpressVPN have a terrible way of cancelling your auto-subscriptions - you have to click on the cancel button 3 TIMES to actually cancel their service and stop them from taking your money. But they do not tell you this, so after I hit the cancel button once thinking it’s over and done with, ExpressVPN continued to take payments. What a fight that was to get my money back!!!

Anyway, the ‘other’ service I’ve been using since September 2022 works. I’m not an online movie streamer like Netflix etc (I don’t really think of Youtube in this way), online game player etc … I just need 24/7 access to the internet of information, especially via google search or Youtube, for my work, to contact & connect with clients via the many different ways (like Telegram, Whatsapp etc) which otherwise don’t work without a VPN here. For the time I’ve been using their service on the basic monthly plan (call it US$ 10/mth), morning, noon, evening and throughout the night I’ve always had the connection I need (24/7) without drop offs, intermittent connections etc AND GOOD SPEED … which takes me back to the good old days of when PandaPow was in service (they died so don’t bother looking for them lol)

I’m very protective of when I find a good service like I’ve found, as I don’t want them to become a huge name and end up like Express/Nord etc being blocked … so I don’t publicly post their name.

They’re not perfect in everyway as the apps/protocols they use may take a bit of getting used to if you’re used to using one of the BIG name apps, but they don’t give you any bullshit … and depending on how you use your online time they’ve got various plans you can go for … as in if you’re a netflix type streamer (4K servers) or online gamer etc.

If you’re like me and need a constant 24/7 connection to everything that’s otherwise blocked with good speed, then pm me & I’ll send you a link.

They did before about a decade ago. Not sure when they removed it. I’m just giving an example of how easy it is to get around blocks in most countries but China.

Yeah, subscribed to Nord VPN when Panda shit the bed. It’s very, very good. Have tried Astrill, Express, Ninja, Proton and many others over the past 15 years. There was like a 3 year deal I took advantage of, was very cost effective.

How much is the 3 years deal? Just hope that Nord doesn’t pull a panda. Take your money for 3 years then shut down halfway through Haha

Nord works now in China? It used to be totally useless.

Looks like I paid $80.73 and subscription is active until May 2025. Thought it was 3 years but I guess it was 2 at a discounted rate + extra bonus month. But $3.50/mo is not bad considering I use it everyday.

I was paying nearly $20/mo with Astrill for their service +VIP upgrade which, my friends and I have all confirmed, provides no speed upgrade.

Not sure as I activated the plan when I hopped over to America. Might need to stick to Astrill, though I hate their fees. Don’t get Astrill VIP, it’s useless.

$3.5/month was on par with panda. Sounds like I should get this plan as well. Thanks!
