Hello there. I will be visiting Shenzhen for 13 days. I saw that Tiktok (international version) is blocked in China from reading online and other posts. I will be using a Chinese simcard in my phone when I arrive, for mobile data usage on my dual sim phone.
My questions are:
- Which VPN is the most reliable and cost efficient? I have done my research and people are saying to avoid ExpressVPN and NordVPN, and that the best two are Astrill and LetsVPN.
- What would the procedure to use Tiktok be like? I will be staying in a university dorm and will mostly using their WiFi when I am there.
- What does “foreign” sim card mean in the 2nd picture below?

Doesn’t work on iOS at least. The second I put the SIM card back in it stopped working
You must ensure that you have a VPN on and have no Chinese/HK SIM card in your phone.
Astril is great, and most of my foreign friends use it. It’s expensive though, but suppose you get what you pay for. Tiktok however never works and don’t know how to make it work. Other apps are fine though, X Facebook YouTube for example.

#1 I perosnally don’t use any VPNs, I use esim instead because it has a built-in VPN, I dont need to worry somedays a VPN is not working anymore suddenly . but I heard ppl say Astrill is the best.
#2 I dont use VPN and im not a fan of Tiktok neither ,but it should works fine with a VPN, but mainland and HK as well not able to access Tiktok
#3 second pic probably means you need turn off your chinese sim for not using chinese data, that works for accessing tiktok
