Delete the app, or don’t. If this is a free vpn it’s most likely collecting your data for ads
Same for me, it’s look like a bug, is not the app (in my case happened with protonvpn, and customs ovpn)
This is a bug, you gotta go into iPhone settings and turn off auto connect for vpn. It’s dumb but it is doable and you don’t need to remove your vpn
This isn’t a bug. Your VPN service/setting still had “connect on demand” on. This means, you always want to make sure your iPhone doesn’t use/access internet without a VPN active.
To see this setting:
1). Open settings.
2). Click on VPN.
3). Click on the ( i ) next to your VPN service.
4). Turn off “Connect on Demand”.
5). Optional - after #4 you may need to step back (hit back arrow located on top left) and then toggle off the active VPN.
It’s intentional. For security reasons, you do NOT want your data leaking out without your VPN.

Try turning you phone off and on. Like do a restart. Sometimes it helps.
I had the reverse of that the other day (also TunnelBear) - VPN was connected but no icon.
Click “i” and turn off “connect on demand”
Reset network settings. You will have to reconnect back to your WiFi network after.
I have the same issue and the internet fails.
I have that issue all the time best thing to do is to restart your phone & it should fix it

I dont know if it’s the same but lately on 13 pro max I’ve been am getting the VPN icon and I don’t have it on. I use NORDVPN then I restart then it goes away
Why people use this VPN? Just for “security reasons “?

Try to connect with 4G or 5G instead of WiFi
That’s funny never had this problem before iOS 18 ( when I turn my vpn off it should stay off )
