VPN setup for iOS

Hi guys,

I’m very new to Opnsense but have a fair amount of experience with pfsense and loads of experience with enterprise firewalls.
I’ve moved my home setup to Opnsense and the main issues I’ve been having are VPN based. More than likely this is due to Crapple and iOS.
WireGuard - started trying to get this to work but had zero luck whatsoever. Even when I disable the WireGuard server on the firewall the client says it’s connected so I binned that off.
OpenVPN - I’m having issues with the new “instances” setup mainly with certificates and getting them onto the phone. When I download them and get them on to my phone I rename them to ovpn12 so they can be imported using the app but it says the password is wrong every time. I’ve done it loads now to make sure and no dice. I also can’t seem to set it up without the cert auth (which is fine if I could install them). I’ve tried to export the user cert from the users page and also the bundle from the OpenVPN page.

I don’t really want to use the legacy stuff. Has anyone any experience of doing this with iOS specifically as I’ve had no problems with windows whatsoever.

I have the generic WireGuard app from WireGuard dot com and it works fine on my iOS devices (iPhone and iPad).

Maybe it was my setup then. Do you have the guide you used please?

Same here, set it up with split tunneling (incl. DNS) and auto reconnect at 3am via iOS short command and automation on all the families devices. Works perfectly fine.

I do not think I used any third party guide. I can provide more assistance later (when not at work).

This guide was released recently and helped me get my WireGuard up and running with my iOS devices.
